Can one of our AL members explain this seemingly childish bickering within the GOP? You have an appointed incumbent who appears to be guaranteed reelection, why is Moore fighting him? Why doesn't Moore accept that he's not the Senator and let the GOP focus on gaining power, not silly squabbling.

I think the previous governor was impeached or indicted. Was that a factor in this primary battle?

Former Governor Bentley resigned under fire. Before he resigned he appointed Strange, the Attorney General who had been dragging out his investigation of Bentley, to Jeff Sessions vacant seat.

I and most people that I know think it smells.

I can't stand either Moore or Strange; I think they are both bad choices.

Edit to add: Moore was elected Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court twice and suspended both times.

Oops, I am off an hour, central time they are.
I should have known that, the panhandle in Florida is in central time.

Polls closing momentarily.

OK, it's been 3 minutes, why has this race not been called?

I am originally from The South, but this seems slow.

I gotta go exercise, but when I come back, this race better be called.

At my polling station, I was voter number 236 at 515pm.
I was disappointed in the turnout. Poll workers were disappointed too.

Over all, the race most likely hinges on turnout of Mr. Moore’s rural base and Mr. Strange’s supporters around Birmingham and Mobile. To offset his rival’s dedicated backers, Mr. Strange is counting on a larger number of voters — beyond those who participated in the primary

and the turn-out isn't large...
