I don’t think I need Scytl, but I’m glad to see that others use GitHub.

GitHub was the only site on the web that had a MacOS download for SPITBOL, which is a newer (*1) version of SNOBOL4, an ancient computer programming language. Nearly forgotten by most, but it’s wonderfully useful.

C. A. R. Hoare said of Algol 60:
“Here is a language so far ahead of its time, that it was not only an improvement on its predecessors, but also on nearly all its successors.”

The same could be said of SPITBOL.

*1 – SPITBOL is about 5 years newer than 60 year old SNOBOL4. Smile
