My current job came via linked. Linkedin is a great tool but you have to know how to manipulate it.

I'm always looking, so it's always on. It privately lets recruiters know that you want to be contacted so your current employer doesn't know you're shopping.

There's a ton of little things to do to make yourself stand out.

It's really worth taking the time to set it up to optimize your visibility, and it's not always totally straightforward.

As I mentioned earlier, once you get your profile how you want it, sign up for that free trial, but cancel at the 29th day so you don't get charged.

I've realized the more you put into it, the more you get out of it.

I also got a job through LinkedIn.

I had been out of work about two months when a recruiter called my house our of the blue after viewing my page.

I only worked for them for six months when I got a better offer somewhere else.

But, I thought it was amazing that I got a job through really no work on my own.

What if your employer has recruiters surfing Linked-In?

Dude, you read my mind. I was thinking this yesterday.

I was wondering if the recruiter for my current would see it and if there is a way to block them. I'm sure there's not.

Mine recruiter visibility setting has always been open (Only recruiters can see it). I'm sure many people never turn it off, just the same as people who don't know it exists never turn it on.

Thanks. Very helpful info.

I am on there but haven't really done much to spiff up my profile.

I will put some time into it.

My last two jobs came from LinkedIn.

The one before that they definitely checked out my profile there.

I played with it this past winter when I was unemployed, maybe if I would have spent more time and effort it may would have paid off. Indeed came through in the end, but not after putting in around 100 or more applications.

Process is pretty quick. Took about 3 days for me to get approved.
