A .40 cal Sig he says accidentally fired when he picked it up (or stepped on it, his story kept changing). Because San Francisco is so gun crazy, Sigs are just lying around waiting to go off.
After he accidentally shot her, he “accidentally” threw it off the pier and “accidentally” fled the scene. Sounds perfectly innocent to me.
