Marines
Published on Feb 19, 2018

February 19, 2018 is the 73rd anniversary of the start of the Battle of Iwo Jima.

Cpl. Don Graves was there, and to this day he hasn't forgotten the words he read inscribed on a K-ration fashioned into a makeshift memorial at the 5th Marine Division cemetery at the foot of Mt. Suribachi.

May we all do our best with our tomorrows.

Semper Fidelis, Iwo Jima veterans.

Thanks for this. Your video lead me to explore some Iwo Jima stories and this one really hit hard:

It’s worth a read. Semper Fi, Jack - we are not worthy of the world you fought and died to leave for us.

that last comment.

18 out of 335 survived. They walked through a graveyard of their buddies that had died on the island.
Then they got on the boat, went back to Hawaii, and trained to fight Japan.

I have no words.
"Thank you" can never cover it....

Thank you for sharing. One of my sons was a Marine and a son in law retired from the Corps after 28 years.
