For years there was a Sears ~5 minutes away Now the closest Sears is ~45 minutes away.

I'll admit, still 15 minutes away. Pretty sure though it's the only one in San Diego (probably the county!)

Stanley Black & Decker is the email address - craftsman@sbdinc.com

from Wikipedia:

"In March 2017, Stanley Black & Decker acquired the Craftsman brand from Sears Holdings, which retained a limited license for Craftsman products."

There are additional details about it there.

Right now most of them probably are, but since Stanley-B&D acquired Craftsman, they said they are committed to moving most handtool manufacturing back to the US.

New Factory Means More Craftsman Hand Tools will be Made in the USA

You need to check the packaging for country of origin. See also: Where Are CRAFTSMAN® Tools Made?

In a few years after the Texas plant is online, Craftsman should allow you to turn in your Chinese made Craftsman tools for 1/2 off a new USA set. Get those low quality tools out of circulation and restore the brand's reputation.
