Exactly.
The great thing about this kind of law (from the perspective of the socialists) is that it is easily altered to fit the need. This law sets precedence for all to follow. Today, it is criminal to talk against the transgendered. Tomorrow, it's criminal to talk against illegal aliens. Next week, maybe we don't like the way you are criticizing the government (we know what's best for you, after all; what *reasonable* person would complain? You must be fomenting sedition). Next month, maybe you were not enthusiastic enough in your applause when dear leader finished his speech and you need to be taken away for re-education. I'm convinced this is why they stopped teaching history in schools. They don't want people to make these historic connections. Fear God and Dread Nought Admiral of the Fleet Sir Jacky Fisher

Will be interesting in how this develops. Northern European speech patterns are very forward, straight to the point, little warm-up, if there's a question or, statement, out it comes. English speakers can find it intimidating and non-Westerners try to connect such forwardness as evidence of insensitivity, even racism for the SJW's who travel abroad for the first time. Norway, like all Scandinavian cultures, have a social construct that keeps everyone socially in-line call Jante's Law. It effectively forces people to conform to the prevailing norms and morays of society. In the English-speaking world its Tall Poppy Syndrome, making sure nobody stands out above the rest; for the Scandinavians its a prevailing attitude to maintain a plain and cheerful outlook, anybody countering suffers social ostracism, which explains the number of societal subgroups that proliferate throughout Scandinavia. Japan has a similar conformity blanket over its society and the various subgroups of those who feel disenfranchised, cast-out or, general misfits.

Not just the USSR. Baldur von Schirach and his crowd turned German schoolkids into pretty effective informers, too. Europe can be a nice place to visit, and there are lots of good folks over there, but don't mistake it for the US - our Bill of Rights does not apply. There are surprising restrictions on free speech over there: Germany just a couple of years ago charged a comedian with "Violation of Paragraph 103 of the Penal Code" for a dirty poem/song about the President of Turkey. That said, our Constitution and the Bill of Rights don't defend themselves. If we don't defend them, we might as well not have them.

Back, and to the left |
As many cameras as we have in urban and suburban areas, I have always wondered when microphones will make an appearance (if they haven't already). If the London cops have undercover people they would have you believe have nothing better to do than listen for anti TG 'hate' speech, a few microphones are not much a stretch. If words are so freakin' destructive, it's only a matter of time before, some defense contractor announces the sale and deployment of word cannons. Maybe illogic grenades or a hate bayonet. Yeah. That's the ticket.

Free speech, as we define it, has not existed in Europe for years. State religions still exercise a lot of influence too. For example, 26 members of the UK's House of Lords are Anglican bishops who sit by right as hereditary peers. __________________________

What? Me, worry? It can't happen here ... not in America. ____________________

Watch it, mentioning the "second amendment" will soon be considered hate speech. "Liberty lies in the hearts of men and women. Didn't Jordan Peterson successfully fight against compelled speech in Canada?

Peterson bravely fought against it but I am not sure how successful it was. Did the law get repealed ? At any rate too many fuckwits up there still think shit like that is a good idea.

How things (evidently) change. Some decades ago my wife and I were invited to the home of a Scandinavian family for dinner. The daughter was a physician who had served a residency at an emergency room in Cook County (Chicago), Illinois. She had the courage (audacity?) to tell us that that experience had turned her into a racist. If someone did that today, would Alexa or Siri immediately notify the Thought Police? ► 6.4/93.6 “Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something.” — Plato

I'm sorry, But I'm going to have to report you to the authorities for using gender specific pronouns in this discussion. My daughter can deflate your daughter's soccer ball.

Semi side note. A couple of years ago I read a news blurb re a boyfriend visiting his girlfriend, he got a bit rough, she complained, he said something like "what are you going to do, call the police?" Seems she had Alexa or Siri, the device heard it and called the police. They came, ended up arresting the boyfriend. I am not sure it's a stretch of the imagination to think some liberal govt's might use technology to pursue such policies and procedures re politically incorrect dialog, even in your own home, your own car, when on the cellphone?? And, what you choose as your "whatever" can change on a daily basis, in enlightened and advanced cultures. "Liberty lies in the hearts of men and women.
