Here, the Victoria's Secret stores are a favorite....

Why? Because their corporate offices REFUSE to prosecute anyone. If a thief (or group of them as is usually the case) targets them and steals THOUSANDS of dollars worth... THEY WILL NOT COOPERATE with us.

They almost deserve to be ripped off. Of the few times we actaully catch the thieved red handed, they WILL NEVER cooperate and prefer to just pass on the costs to paying customers...

Pathetic really. There are other stores here in this area who do the same... Best Buy, The Buckle, Rue 21, American Eagle, and many similar.

Yet, sometimes they even call us to respond, and then tell us they don't want to prosecute. WHy? Why even bother? Their corporate offices don't want the risk of making headlines by arresting thieves... They just pass the costs on to paying customers.

I wonder if your local State's Attorney would issue an opinion that you are not obliged to respond if there is no crime reported. It's similar to filing a false report, especially if there is a pattern of refusing to prefer charges. Mention the possibility of the responding police getting involved in an accident with a member of the public, because eventually it will happen.

That's been the case for at least 12 years that I know of as well. I guess the loss prevention cost or lack of, offsets the loss of theft. They just want a case number to write the theft off but never prosecute.

If the person is so desperate for new underwear they'll take this Victoria's Secret stuff what's fulla holes, why prosecute?
