Hell, it may be the only thought some of you have all day. Wanna know why? Because you don't know jack shit, that's why. I know, because I've been there. I'd say trust me on this, but your average 25 year old thinks they know everything and thinks that the older people around them are clueless. Oh. sure, the old people have been around a whole lot longer, but they know "old stuff". They can't tell you about the new and fashionable trends, which, as we all know, are permanent from now on. They're sooooo ignorant and they're such a pack of pathetic fuddy-duddies. However, YOUR generation, though- out of ALL the generations of humans before you, you melon farmers are so fucking special! That's right, kids- all the stuff in this world you're used to- all the slang, all the music, the movies, the celebrities, the political outlook and what's acceptable/unacceptable in society- these things are unchanging. Yep, for everyone else, their stuff goes by the wayside, but this generation of snot-nosed ungrateful, arrogant, know-it-alls has hit the jackpot! Yep, your world and world view is the ONLY VALID ONE EVAAAR! Lucky you, huh?

Well, kids, I'll let you in on a little secret- You ain't nothin' special. You're just like the rest of the people who've come before you, and as you move on down the road, all the stuff you and your drooling peer group thinks is cool/relevant/common sense is going to get OLDE and then, perhaps, some of you will begin to realize the truth of what I'm telling you: You know next to nothing. Trust me, you're not fooling anyone. Life and Time are the great teachers of us all and they're going to have their way with you, and then you will understand. Just wait. Just you wait! Oh, boy, just wait until you start feeling those body blows life has been saving up for you. You're going to run a gauntlet, whether or not you know it at this point. Until this realization begins to set in for you (and, oh, boys and girls, it shall), have mercy on the rest of us and try shutting your flapping traps every now and then.

You're the everybody-gets-a-trophy generation. As a whole, you're the moist spoiled and coddled children who've ever lived! You have everything you want and society has bent over backwards to keep you "safe". Roll Eyes Your parents shield you from the world- the REAL world- until you're in the last half of your twenties! They won't let you fail a grade in school ("No student left behind" is tantamount to kidnapping). They make sure you get into college- ANYONE can get into college these days. You take out student loans you know you will never pay back and the college makes sure that everyone graduates. That is utterly pathetic, truly pathetic. You're a generation of SPOILED, WHINING MARSHMALLOWS!! Yet, you think you know better than the rest of us? The degree of arrogance is indescribable. Roll Eyes

In societies other than our, people of advanced age are venerated and regarded as a source of wisdom. But, hey, not in America! Nosirree, Bob! Well, guess what? It doesn't change a thing. The truth remains the truth whether or not it's acknowledged. Now, go find and adult to intepret my remarks for you.

Amen.

Also youngsters, despite what science and mathematics tells you, TIME is not a constant.
The older you get, the faster the days, months and years speed by.

Gotta admit though, when that 22 year old son of mine (who does think he knows a whole lot) has a car problem, or a computer problem, or a problem in his apartment, who does he always call for help or a solution? Yep, that's right, the old man who he claims throughout the year doesn't really know much of anything because I'm old. Ya might think that reality would soak in a bit, but it doesn't seem to. Wink

My Dad didn't know anything right up to the time I went in the Army.

By the time I got out, he'd figured it all out and was a great guy.

Oh, and one more thing- all generations of young people have been full of shit (goes with the territory), but THIS generation- this needs-a-helmet-and-training-wheels-to-ride-a-bicycle bunch is BY FAR the most full of shit generation ever to have lived. In that respect, they truly are "special".

These are the little monsters my generation has created. Not all of us, but a lot of us has protected our children from the lessons of the world. My sister in law and her husband are the poster children in creation of the little monsters. It started out early as they gave the children options for their meals. When they served the meals and the children then said no I don’t want that and then ordered a different meal so the parent fixed the new meal. It then progressed through the years. They have created dependents on the parents teet. One is a school dropout that depends on parents for a monthly allowance and living in a house the parents purchased for them to live in. The other has been in college changing majors for the third time, in school being paid by the parents staying in an apartment rented by the parents. Going on ten years now. Coming home to verbally abuse his mother and thinking nothing of it. I don’t pity my SIL and her husband because they created them. I do feel sorry for society because we have to deal with them. Yes my generation has created these monsters of society. Only thinking of themselves and not others. Ungrateful bastages of society.

This happened to me at about age 12:
Me: Hey, Dad! I want a new bike!
Dad: Then get a job and pay for it!
And that bit of parental advice propelled me into the real world.

Exactly how I was raised, however I purchased the bikes for my children, but passed on those lessons with vehicles and insurance rate hikes, and college. My wife and I had to pay for our schooling. My children had to pay for their schooling.

When my boys started to exhibit that know it all thing I asked them when they were going to stop learning. When you're 18? No. 25? No. Well when then? They said Dad you never stop learning. I said correct and I've got a 25 year head start on you. You'll never catch up. And we've got along fine and they have done their dad proud.

Their ability to think critically is more deficient than I could have ever imagined. Results have taken a back seat to feelings and emotions. They have become the largest population of useful idiots the world has ever produced. Unfortunately, their ignorance and embrace of socialism/Marxism is utterly repugnant. Our country has become bifurcated between two competing ideologies that can not coexist. As our country chooses to go one way or the other, this group of kids will get a large dose of what this world has dished out since the beginning of time.

Very true. This does give the minority of young people who understand this, an edge. They will kick the ass off the rest of them. My niece is a Physics major and Navy ROTC. She gets up around 4am every day for physical exercise before attending classes. She does not give a F about being "woke". She has no time for the bullshit we hear every day from the majority of young people. She will be their boss some day.

There is a certain level of overconfidence, ignorance and naiveness that tends to accompany a young person. Life has a way of beating that mess out of you, educating you and punishing your mistakes. I detest the current fixation on safety above liberty.

As a millennial I often wonder why I wasn’t born a few decades earlier. I don’t feel much of a connection to my generation or their perpetual obsession with safety. Too many friends of mine support banning all the dangerous, fun and exciting things.
