The Purple People Eater on it's range debut last night. Our daughter's new indoor bow, a PSE PerformX 3D showed up at the shop on Monday, her coach did initial set-up and she sighted it in last night and it's getting packed tonight for the trip to Vegas.

She'll be shooting one of our team coach's backup bows that is on extended loan this weekend in Vegas and the Purple People Eater will be her backup. She just hasn't had enough time yet to get enough shots through it to stretch the strings and cables to have them settle in. That said, she was shooting lights out with it last night.

We'll be making the drive up to Vegas tomorrow where she'll be competing in The Vegas Shoot, the world's largest indoor archery tournament. Over 3,500 archers have registered for this year's tournament. Her first tournament as a field staff shooter for PSE. It will be a learning experience for her as she's expected to spend some time in their booth at the trade show being a representative for the brand.

On a personal note, my wife and I are going to be busy coaching all weekend long. We have 21 archers from our club competing. Some will be competing for a podium finish, others for the experience, a few shooting Vegas for the first time and a couple shooting Vegas as their very first tournament.

Others have asked in the past details about the tournament. It will be held this weekend at the South Point Casino. Our daughter is shooting Friday at noon and Saturday at 9:30AM in the Riviera Arena on bale 198. If you're interested in archery at all, it's worth coming out to see. Not only for the tournament but for the trade show that has anything and everything related to archery. You can also download The Vegas Shoot app for iPhone and Android to follow scoring as well.

So here it is on its range debut, The Purple People Eater!

Very cool! I have enjoyed your stories of your daughter over the years. My son got into Archery last year (I emailed you and you gave me some good advice BTW) and he has now chose archery over both football and baseball, both of which he played for 6 years. I just got my level 1 coaching certification and will start level 2 soon. We have only been to one tournament and he just earned his first pin so he has a long way to go but so far both of us are really enjoying the sport and the people involved. The tournament was a great chance to meet a lot of local archers and see some really good shooting.

Good luck to you all and thanks for the advice!

Glad you found my ramblings helpful. Who knows, maybe we'll see you in Vegas next year or Raleigh, NC for JOAD Outdoor Nationals this summer...

Safe travels and I hope Maya doesn't let the corporate stuff bother her routine.
Somehow though, I don't think it will dent her desire to drill bullseyes. Smile
