It has been 15 years, but I remember using a Florida snow shovel to look for shark teeth in Venice. It was a lot of fun and I'd like to do it again with my family. Could someone suggest a good spot to find them?

North of the jetty, close to Nokomis. Hit the beach at Albee Road W, On the Nokomis Public Beach.

Caspersen Beach is another spot. Look up what stingray barbs and chrushing plates look like because you may find those as well.

Thank you! The only thing I remember about where we were before was a shack selling the shovels. Do you know if they still sell them there?

I will look those up. Thank you! I wish there was a place closer to Sanibel, but it is worth the drive.

There are lots of places right near the beach that sells them. Get the ones that have the smaller screen. Fill it and rinse in the surf. Don't forget to dig in the sand in the surf as well. We found some really good sized teeth that way. If there is a red tide, go do something else.

Thank you! I still have the one from 15 years ago, but it would be a lot easier because of the size of the handle to just get a new one.

Do you know if you can find them on any beaches south of Venice? It's funny how the shells go to Sanibel and the fossils go to Venice. It would be great if Captiva had them, but I'm guessing we'll have to take the hour and a half drive.

Awesome place to find sharks teeth. Make sure you use plenty on sub screen on your back.

Spent a day diving there in some shallow water. Maybe 15-20'. Ended up with 50+ small teeth, one small meg tooth and a piece of a whale vertebra. This was all on SCUBA though not from shore.
