That's a damn good burger there. I liked the seismic burger. Basically a cheeseburger with jalapenos.

Then to finish the meal off, I would get some of their peach cobbler with ice cream.

I was stationed there from 1976-1977 and then from 1986-1990.

I remember going to Meers during my first tour and got the burger; the beef patty hung well over the giant bun. They cut the burger into quarters for you. Also got the "ocean" of iced tea.

Second tour...no more beef overhanging the bun. Still good.

I enjoyed my two tours there; only sour note was a divorce at the end of the second tour.

(Sigh) Sadly, there's a reason the Okies try to keep us Texans out. OTOH, they seem to get a real kick out of seeing us go to Colorado. Frown

I am from Ponca City (N. central part of state) and live in the Tulsa area now. I'm proud you were treated with such hospitality. I appreciate the kind comments posted here. We no longer live in teepees or ride horses to school and our business climate is improving. Please come back and stay awhile.

Ever since Winstar opened(the largest casino in the world) in Southern Oklahoma the Dallas folks have been flocking here in droves.

Yep. Down here we call that a "heat sink". Have you ever noticed how few Texans ever make it out to Dinosaur in Colorado? That's what Vail's for.

We live in Enid (surprise). My wife and I have traveled a lot of the country and just realized a few years ago, we hadn't seen our own home state. That's what we've been doing for vacations. We have not been disappointed. And, yep, the folks are great except for them big city types! Smile

A buddy of mine in college was from Oklahoma. We visited once in Norman, got the burger from Meers and visited the artillery museum. Even saw a concert in Oklahoma City. Great time.

I have a First Cousin just a couple months my junior who lives in Claremore (east of Tulsa). I visit him occasionally. I've been to the Davis Arms and Historical Museum there several times. And the Will Rogers Museum.

That's right. I tell people the worlds largest casino is in Oklahoma and they think I'm kidding. The Winstar is huge, and at exit 1 just north of the OK-TX boundary it's just crazy seeing Texas license plate cars backed up on I-35 trying to get down the exit. It's insane how much Texas money flows in to that facility.

I run to Big Cabin Oklahoma from Dallas quite often for work.
Been doing it for 20 years.
I've also been to Winstar and Choctaw in Durant, although I don't care much for the Indian casinos.
Instead of giving you back a little money and then taking it all, they just take it all and leave you dry.
Usually only go to the casions and stay overnight for concerts.

People in Oklahoma have always been nice.
The a-hole drivers usually have Texas (I'm a Texan) or Missouri plates.
Even with the dirty water the Eufaula Lake area is beautiful.

The lyrics to this song apply nationwide more than ever these days..

When you cross the bridge over the Red River it's usually like the start of a F-1 race.
