I met Ms. Tootsie 4 years ago at Camp Brisket at Texas A&M. She got a standing ovation from the 75 barbecue enthusiasts in the room when she was introduced. She is a cool lady.

I made the trip and have had barbecue for breakfast at Snow's. Arrived at 6 something am and ate at 8:30am.

Funny story about them opening so early. For years most people showed up about lunchtime to eat. Texas Monthly called in 2008 to ask when they opened, she said around 8am. She didn't knwo that Texas Monthly was going to name them #1 and there was going to be a line a block long at 8am!

Waiting in the line at Snow's or Franklin's has been fun for me the few times I have done it. It's like a tailgate party at a football game with people from all over the world. If you don't want to wait in line I will vouch for Roegel's and Tejas Chocalate Factory in Houston, Stiles Switch in Austin and Pecan Lodge in Dallas. All very good. If you want a good chicken fried steak go to Mary's in Strawn.

I have a few SIGs.

Have you been to Dayne's, 407, Zavala's, Hurtado's or Goldee's? I'd put them all ahead of Hutchin's

If you had one bad experience I'd suggest giving it another shot. They continue to grow and win awards.
