Just a couple of weekends ago, at the Tanner Gun Show in Denver, a vendor accidentally discharged his pistol and hit his hired help in the leg. This was a gun free zone. The vendor has since been ejected from the shows as a result.
Some will say, "Yes, but......".

Just make a couple rules:

1: All loaded weapons must remain in holster.
Any/all violators to be arrested for brandishing a loaded weapon

2: Anyone who wishes to be able to have their firearm out for whatever reason (holster shopping, selling the gun, etc) must have it plainly zip tied in some fashion to prevent use.

They claim to be gun free here but I can tell you that they are not, while I'm there.

All they can do is ask me to leave.

There was a great gun show in my area that doesn't exist anymore because some clown was playing with his carry gun and it went off. Fortunately no one was injured but afterward the facility refused to allow anymore gun shows.

Including security.

Back in the 1990s I was nearly ventilated when one of the vendors at a gun show had an ND showing his pistol to a friend. I was sitting at a table eating a delicious barbecue sandwich when this idiot came to a nearby table and started to show his friend his gun. It went off and the bullet hit the floor under my table and bounced over my head. I was lucky not to have been hit. Of course, that vendor was quickly surrounded by cops and escorted off the premises, told to never return. Me? I examined myself for new holes and, finding none, resumed eating.

Couple of shows in the greater Pittsburgh area.
One has no prohibition regarding concealed carry. Others don't allow loaded guns.

My wife and I only attend one, we don't care to support any organization that states that we cant carry. Gun show, restaurant, store, etc...

How about a simple rule, you pull out your loaded gun - you get escorted out of the place and given a trespass warning not to return. You have an ND, you get charged with reckless endangerment.

Most places that allow the gun shows to have their show there do not allow it. Also it kinda does make sense. I am not trying to be contrary, but after going to a lot of shows, I have seen people that think they know how to operate their weapon, try to unload it so that another person can look at it to buy and almost kill some innocents there.
The last Indy show I went to, a guy was walking around trying to sell a pistol. Guys were cocking the hammer back and instead of pulling the trigger, they were lowering the hammer easy.
On the way out, they guards at the door checked his pistol and asked why he had no wire tie on it. There was a round in the chamber.
I would hate to get shot in the back because someone does not know proper gun handling.

Additionaly, 2 people have pointed "unloaded" guns at me that turned out to be loaded.

The worst one asked if I had a Ruger LCP, I pointed it out on my table. He reached into his pocket pulled out his carry gun, finger in the trigger guard mag in place and said "no I want one with laser like this". As I'm controlling his muzzle screaming at him to let it go he States "oh and by the way it's loaded."

I don't necessarily agree with the policy, but I'm not surprised. We allow carry in the store but I ask that it remains holstered. In the last 18 months I've had 30-40 guns come in on trade that were loaded. Also have had numerous customers pulled their loaded handgun and want to try holsters.

been behind tables on and off since the early 80's

remember serveral ,

and recall seeing folks duck and cover,, dealers reach for a peice,,, and an erie quiet

each resulted in a dealer (seemed to alway be a dealer clearing someones weapon) escorted out never to return

I've been going to shows and helping out since the 80's. I went full time a little over 5yrs ago. Those numbers were just the last five years. I've heard shots fired at shows in VA in the 80s, Austin, TX in 98. Puyallup twice in the late 90's early 2000's. Mobile in 2009 if memory serves I'll never forget that one it was a 7mm mag and when police confronted the guy every rifle on his table was loaded he had come straight from hunt camp.

A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today, who no longer understand that fact.

I for 1 am glad all weapons coming in to gun shows here are checked as well as all magazines be shown to be empty. Those shows are full of people who know nothing about weapon safety, there are dozens of people a day who come to the larger show around here and when they have their weapons checked at the door have a round in the chamber, usually met with oops I forgot.

I have been go two gun shows with NDs. One round ricocheted off the floor and went in the ceiling. The second onea me he guy checking guns at the entrance to make sure they were unloaded got shot thru the web of his hand.

I agree all guns should be unloaded in gun shows. People pull too many triggers in shows. That being said, you can clip that tie wrap with your Leatherman tool and get a magazine in pretty quick if it became necessary.

I have a few SIGs.

Seriously, have you been asleep for the past 30 years. Time and Time Again some moron at a Gun Show has pulled the trigger on a loaded firearm to "Confirm it's not loaded". Yeah, I am fully aware of how ridiculous this statement is but sadly it's also true and a demonstration about how blindingly STUPID some people can be with firearms.

I'll also note that the Gun Shows I have been to have NOT been Gun Free Zones, they have been Ammunition Free Zones and they check EVERYONE, even the Vendors. While I don't relish the idea of walking out a Gun Show essentially unarmed I do understand the need for these rules. Because it is the only way to insure that someone that many of us sarcastically call "Rocket Surgeons" from discharging a firearm within the venue.

BTW, while it didn't make the evening news I heard that one of these "Rocket Surgeons" managed to shoot himself in the foot while clearing the chamber on his carry weapon at a local show while sitting in his car. While some might consider me to be a bit harsh, I hope that every step that Moron takes for the rest of his life reminds him why you NEVER point a firearm at something you are not totally willing to shoot, including parts of your own anatomy.

I've stopped counting.

I have been to 5 different shows over the last 30 years where a ND occurred. On 2 separate occasions it was a uniformed off duty law enforcement officer hired to check guns and tie them at the entrance that fired them. A third incident occurred because an off duty uniformed officer had a ND while walking through the show. Not really sure what he was doing but too bad if you wanted to go back to that row of tables, they had been closed off with crime scene tape.

All the area shows I go to are "no loaded guns," "no concealed carry," "no loaded magazines," "no loose ammo." And there is always an officer from the local PD or sheriff's department at the entrance.
