I am less than 100 miles from the 49ers stadium. Every Sunday I clench my fist as a sign of progress when the Niners lose another game. So far they are 0-5. I hope they lose every game, and their fan base as well. Go 49ers, go for the loss!

Bossier Parish (and Bossier City) is where Barksdale AFB and the B52s are. Base and the few River Boat Casinos they have included - there are maybe 125,000 people in the whole Parish. Not exactly a big city/etc, nor a giant Sheriff's Dept, so the impact may be primarily symbolic, but it's a nice statement by the Sheriff just the same. It will be interesting to see how Ford Motor Company and others react to this shit storm as it gains momentum.

Our OC should be on his knees praying for his job this morning. Big Grin

There was an organized 'knee-in' before the game outside the stadium planned by local clergy.

I didn't see anything inside the stadium.

Meh...they can "knee-in" all they want. The irreparable damage has been done and now the NFL is going to have to lie in that bed chock full of cigarette ashes and dung. They made it...

The hurricane in Puerto Rico and President Trump is mean and called us names if we kneel.

BamaJeepster,
The first link is to a story dated August 24, 2017.

The second link is last night.... and judging from the picture, I do think the intent was disrespectful of the National Anthem:

Philadelphia Eagles players Malcolm Jenkins (27) and Rodney McLeod (23) raise their fists as they stand with head coach Doug Pederson during the national anthem before an NFL football game against the Carolina Panthers in Charlotte, N.C., Thursday, Oct. 12, 2017.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

Free men, semi famous even, living large, making millions a year to play a *game* and be on TV, raising a black-panther-fist... is "cute", in a stampy feet, bless their hearts, way.

Screaming about Darfur to the old lady at the DMV counter somehow makes more sense.

Roger Goodell's wife anonymously tweeted support for him. She got caught.

http://www.foxnews.com/sports/...-defend-husband.html

The account, @forargument, did not have a profile picture or followers and hadn't shown any activity since it was activated in 2014

But the account started tweeting to defend Goodell during the past few months, however.

The Wall Street Journal investigated and learned the account was Jane Skinner Goodell’s.

Wife's response:

“It was a REALLY silly thing to do and done out of frustration—and love,” Goodell said. “As a former media member, I’m always bothered when the coverage doesn’t provide a complete and accurate picture of a story. I’m also a wife and a mom. I have always passionately defended the hard-working guy I love—and I always will. I just may not use Twitter to do so in the future!”

Brian McCarthy, a spokesman for NFL, defended Goodell’s account.

“Sounds like what she did is what every spouse in America would want to do,” McCarthy told The Wall Street Journal.

sounds like NFL about to completely jump off the cliff

https://ca.reuters.com/article.../idCAKBN1CI24Y-OCASP

The NFL said on Friday it has no plans to mandate players stand for the U.S. national anthem

Commissioner Roger Goodell, along with the head of the NFL Players Association, will meet with the owners from Oct. 17-18 in New York where the issue of player protests during the U.S. national anthem is expected to command much attention.

Lockhart said the discussions will focus on how to use the broad platforms of the NFL, players and clubs to try and make progress on issues of equality, social justice and criminal justice reform.

“(Goodell) has a plan that he is going to present to owners about how to use our platform to both raise awareness and make progress on issues of social justice and equality in this country,” NFL spokesman Joe Lockhart said on a conference call.

**************

welcome to the new NFL
