I heard on the news this morning that Nike had experienced a $790 million loss in its latest quarterly earnings report. The company is putting the blame partially on COVID-19. Whoever is steering the ship there seems to be making a headlong rush at the Titanic iceberg. The company's market cap plummeted $3.75 billion a year and a half ago, when Colin Krapperneck pulled his jerkoff stunt and Nike endorsed him.

Now, here it is standing atop the virtue signaling heap despite using slave labor in China to manufacture its $400 LeBron shoes that Chicago teenagers are killing each other in droves to steal.

Unfortunately, I already owned too much Nike tennis product to just throw away when Krapyerdick started his bullshit and Nike goose-stepped right in line with their America-hating drivel along with him. Today, though, I just placed an Amazon order for "Dri-Fit" tennis shirts and a hat to the tune of some $85 from "generic" brands. It's not much in those assholes' Billions in sales, but if everyone did the same thing, maybe they'd be taken down a notch or two. And I'm feverishly looking for some new tennis shorts, but you can guaran-damn-tee a "swoosh" won't be found ANYWHERE on them.

Never again will I buy a Nike product. EVER! In fact, my next pair of shoes will be Asics.

China is already too expensive for Nike. They are in Vietnam now, for a while. South Korean guy I from a JV in Daegu moved to Saigon (HCMC) to work for Nike.

And no, labor in China is by no means "slave labor". Biggest problem we have there is turnover because plant employees will change jobs to get a little more money. There are no labor unions and no seniority so pay rate is the primary driver. Chinese cannot easily relocate within China due to a complicated system of local residency, so many will bounce around to different companies within their home city, instead of following opportunities within one company. But the more they drive up wages, the more business will go elsewhere. At the WuFlu is just going to make that happen faster.

Why not. The Indians owner is King of the Pussies and gave away Chief Wahoo already, so I doubt he'll push back much on losing the name too. What a shit show.

Like I said, the owner of the Indians is one of the biggest Pussies I've ever seen. He'll eventually run this franchise right out of business, then look around and wonder what the hell happened.

I would like to see an open discussion with Native Americans about their preferences regarding sports teams names. They are the only people relevant to the discussion. BLM and "woke" white people have no standing here.

If the surviving Native Americans find these names and images to be offensive to their heritage and ethnicity, I will respect them. If they are OK with it, I will respect that too. And if there is a modification that preserves their heritage and pride while being respectful, that is probably the best solution.

Eliminating Native American reference and imagery eventually will erase their memory from history. The Spanish destroyed Native history, religion, and language in the countries they settled. Most native Latin Americans lost their languages and religion to the Spanish, and have little connection to their past, except through the surviving imagery of celebrations like "day of the dead" which is certainly not Catholic in origin.

Once we change all of the team names, remove all the logos, how much is left of Native Americans in modern culture? Names of towns in Wisconsin and Reservation Casinos?

Is it a stretch to think that minority groups are in competition for white guilt and that one group wants to be on top while pushing the others out of the way?

I quit buying Nike about four years ago, now New Balance works for my running. ANYTHING but Nike.

I still have some Nikes that are wearable, but I use them for yard work.

And I just don't care. I've never owned a pair of Nike shoes, or any other apparel. I pretty much hate it when they come to town to beat the Bungals. They have the rudest fans and they approach the Steelers fans. Maybe they should make Pittsburgh change their name to the Plastics.

A couple of years ago when that Kapernick clown started his shit, I just didn't watch TV on Sundays. I was PC and didn't discriminate, I didn't watch any of it. College Bsll, if the teams interested me, was OK.

I'm guessing now every rabid fan will need new team logo stuff to wear. I won't.

The only way to eliminate racism in professional sports, perceived or otherwise, is to eliminate professional sports.

I thought maybe I'll just skip the beginning and tune in when play starts. Then I thought that's not going to work. They're going to replay it and talk about through the entire game, and then on the news later that night. I survived a season with no NHL. I won't watch until this stops.

The Washington comPost has conducted several surveys of this sort. I shouldn't need to mention that the Post is NOT a conservative newspaper (one could argue it's not even a newspaper, but I digress).

In a 2016 survey the paper reported that 9 out of 10 Native Americans were not offended by the Redskins name.

They did another one last year (2019) WITH THE SAME RESULTS. The Post's reaction?

"The Post’s poll has been blamed for killing the debate. The truth is, our collective response did."

No doubt there are bastages at the Post who are now dancing with glee at the latest turn of events.

This is who the NFL is begging forgiveness from and wants to be the face of an NFL franchise. This is who JJ Watt defended and said anyone who thinks it's about disrespecting the flag doesn't know what they are talking about.

Just thinking Bama, I wonder if Kaepernick has the same hatred for those in North Africa, who sold slaves to Europeans who then brought them to the US?

Just put some five inch heels, a mini skirt, red lipstick, and fake tits on this attention whore, and put him out on a street corner where he belongs. I think this POS would actually curl up and die if all of a sudden no one paid any attention to him. He means absolutely nothing. He's navel lint. Just ignore him.

Check out a map of South America and look at all the indigenous place names. I didn't look a long time, but I didn't see anything except Spanish. In comparison, the nearest water to me has an indigenous name, as does the nearest village; the people who named these places are still here and are part of my community.

We're not perfect, but... Our country is the worst place on the planet, except everywhere else.

I would like to apologize to anyone I have *not* offended. Please be patient. I will get to you shortly.

I've had mostly Nike since the first pair of Cortez in the seventies. A few diversions to Puma and Reebock here and there, but almost always Nike. 2 years ago I switched to Skechers. They have been the most comfortable tennis shoes I have ever had.

Black national anthem...good grief. Just do away with playing the national anthem, God Bless American and ever other pre-game ceremony, give'em what these assholes want, a complete scouring of any sense of tradition and ceremony. Pro sports has devolved into pathetic pandering by any means, from ridiculous swearing-in ceremonies for new recruits to pathetic ham-fisted attempts at 'honoring' returning warfighters and veterans, eff'em.

Even my most lefty black friend, after I asked him WTF is this, his reply, 'I don't even know what the hell the NFL is doing...we (black people) didn't even ask for that, let alone know there's such a thing.'

Nike has removed all Redskins merchandise from their website. Now, according to a report, the sports apparel giant will not put the team’s merchandise back on their site until they change their name.

The news come from the Athletic who reports source at Nike is claiming that no Redskins gear will be displayed until the team chooses a new name. Though, as the report says, Nike does expect the Redskins to announce a new name “soon.” In order to give them, and other athletic apparel distributors, time to produce and distribute the new merchandise

Remember when Scott Jordan of SCOTTeVEST was roundly kicked in these parts for saying what he actually thought-- that conservatives and Trump supporters were "fucking idiots" and that he loved that they continued to buy his stuff?

NFL has been doing that for years, but many here will continue to make excuses for why THEIR contributing to advertising revenue, merchandising profits, ticket sales, etc, isn't the same at all as continuing to buy SCOTTeVEST products after Jordan's revelation.

Flame away, but if you support the NFL in any way, shape, or form, you're supporting the enemy, plain and simple.
