I don’t trust the polls anymore than most here but I get phone calls from the Cruz campaign several times a day and multiple solicitations for donations via email daily. I donate monthly and I tell everyone I know to make sure they get out and vote R in November.

I’ve seen a lot of Beto signs in people’s yards but few Cruz signs. I expect this is just conservatives keeping a low profile as usual.

If you can spare a few bucks to give to the Cruz campaign I’m sure it would be appreciated. I haven’t seen how much money each campaign has raised since May but the socialist was hanging close.

You know? All I hear it that this is a bad year to be an incumbent Republican and that the commies are going to win and win big.

It's funny, because my sense is that just the opposite is going to occur. I honestly believe that most Americans want to keep this ball rolling and while they may not like Trump, they like what he has done for the country. I don't/can't believe that the electorate wants to go backwards.

My only concern is that with things being good, too many will become complacent with voting. Then, it's anybody's bet.

Maybe it's pie in the sky, but I like to think that we'll gain seats in both houses.

I don't trust the media and their predictions, be it FNC or any others.

I think it is a lot of wishful thinking and friendly press from libs for Beto.

Isn’t it politically incorrect to culturally appropiate another culture, Beto is not Hispanic as I understand. I should protest next correct, burn some cars, etc that is the next step in the playbook right!!

Cruz for the win!

8 out of 9 primaries went Trumps way. Bet against his endorsements at your own peril. No fuckin way Cruz loses to Beto.

Good idea, thanks done.
I've supported him on prior Senate and even the prez run.

Love Ted. Cool

I don't see how an increase in requests for campaign donations equates to his being in election jeopardy. With the elections just a few months away, wouldn't you expect to see an increase?

If Republican candidates are smart, they will play "America was never great" remarks, Antifa marchers chanting "no USA at all" and other such shenanigans in an endless loop. "Is this what you want for the country?" they should ask.

Im pessimistically optimistic for these mid term elections.

His last name is O’Rourke and neither of his parents are hispanic, AFAIK.

But he used to be in a BAND and he’s so CUTE!

There are a pantload of Beto signs and bumper stickers here in Jerkwater, too. Since he promises to crank up the Free Shit machine. We’re increasingly infested with manbuns and hippy chicks and all sorts of other loafers.

I hear ya. But I’ve never received multiple calls a day from the Cruz campaign. It wouldn’t surprise me if he’s just building up his campaign funds. I’m not going to be complacent though.

Seeing a lot of Beto car stickers in addition to yard signs up here in the Westoplex. Also saw my first Beto TV ad tonight - it was very well done and will resonate with the low-information voters. Cruz's campaign better have a plan to step up the ads and his physical presence at some point before the election. While I hope Beto and the Dems suffer a severe mid-term beat-down, my gut tells me not to assume anything during these times.

Maybe. I don't believe anything the Left or news media/polls tell me anymore; especially after the 2016 results.

Beto is a big proponent of using the f-word in his speeches. You can catch a few highlights plus a 1994 vid of his 90's punk band Foss on YouTube.
Arrested for DUI in '98 and a fan of impeaching the President as well. A real solid citizen.

I believe there will be concerted efforts on the part of the left to win at any cost - don't assume anything. Get out and vote !

Don't forget, these are the same corrupt poll numbers that predicted a democrat landslide in the last election. My prayer for the midterms is further Republican gains across the house and senate.

No, the only thing Beto has is big bucks coming from CA, to try and get TX. Not going to happen, I would not worry. What he wants is everything Texans despise, I think Ted will do fine.

Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

When you had the votes, we did things your way. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way. This lesson in political reality from Lyndon B. Johnson

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." - Justice Janice Rogers Brown

^^^ For some reason, Beto looks like someone who'd either get ignored a lot or get his butt kicked a lot in El Paso. Maybe things are different in the neighborhood of Two Step; I don't recall having spent much time there (for some reason the University of New Mexico Press winds up publishing all of the cool stuff about the region).

OP, FWIW, I see "Beto" signs all over the place in my neighborhood, and all I ever think when I see them is "oh, how cute, virtue signaling!!!" IOW, sometimes the people making the most noise aren't the ones who think they're being heard. Sometimes they're the ones who are the most convinced that they're being ignored.

I do wish Cruz had more of a presence in the state, whether in-person or on-air. I can see not wanting to step in a cowpie, and I can see wanting to make damned sure he's in Washington D.C. on September 4th, but it wouldn't hurt him to start showing the colors around here a little more.

I've seen one Beto sign in Belton, and one on a van, also had a Bernie bumper sticker since moving to Texas.

Haven't met a hippie yet. I'm sure they are there in Austin.

But Cruz came to Temple last week.

And hast Beto been arrested for something or another?
