Why did we loose our fur?

Other than those demon cats and weird naked mole rats, most land mammals have a nice luxurious fur covering. Why don't we have a nice natural shiny coat that is not subject to fashion changes?

My hunch would be that our big brains are a lot more heat sensitive than mammals with smaller brains. As a result those who had the ability to shed heat more efficiently survived and those who lacked that ability didn't survive.
