I’m sick. Had fevers up to 104.2. My B-D digital thermometer has been good over the years but it can take a couple of minutes for a reading. Not good when feverish and delirious.

Any recommendations for a name brand, fast digital thermometer? Under the tongue still the go to method? What about the in ear or forehead types?

LOL!
Believe it or not, I use my Thermapen cooking thermometer. About 2 seconds.
But watch that pointy end! Not suitable for kids.

Braun Thermoscan in ear thermometer is what our pediatrician uses and suggests.
We have one and it seems to be quite accurate.
Mama still uses the old Vaseline in the bottom method on the little baby.
Everyone else gets the Braun and seems quite accurate and only takes a few seconds.
If the disposable cones crack or have too much crud on them they will give a whacky reading though.

The in laws bought one of those forehead reader things it is not nearly as accurate. I am not sure the brand for that one.

Looking at Braun thermoscan 5 and 7. Dumb question: I can use this on myself right? It’s not too awkward on oneself?

Yes, they are easy to use, even on yourself, and only take a few seconds to take a reading.
