Texas teams are always made an example of, SMU = Death Penalty, what other college got that? Crickets

Houston Astros = 1 yr suspensions + $5M fine + loss of 1st & 2nd rd draft pics for two years!!

Come on!!

We will see how long Boston’s Cora and NY’s Beltran’s suspensions are for their part?!

Cora's is going to be worse. Beltran will get nothing because he was a player at the time and MLB granted immunity to all players that cooperated with the investigation.

Cora might as well resign now and avoid forcing the BoSox from having to show him the door.

Yeah, I see Cora getting a longer suspension than one year. A lot of people are saying the Trashtros should’ve had their WS win stripped. The fallout from this is just beginning. It won’t be as bad as the strike of 1994-1995 obviously, but it’s gonna get worse from here on out.

It was cheating, and the Astros deserved a sanction. (I like the Astros, but my fandom is limited. I am not anything like a fan of pro sports.)

But there are greater and lesser infractions in all contexts. Going ten miles an hour over the speed limit is illegal and so is driving drunk through a school zone. But we all recognize that they are different. Sign stealing is legal if done some ways and not if tech is used. I don't think you can argue persuasively that sign stealing is as serious as some other rule infractions might be. But they imposed a sanction that is just under a lifetime ban. That is why I think it is excessive.

The Trashtros didn’t just cheat. They continued to cheat even AFTER the commissioner sent a memo to all teams warning them not to use electronic means after the Red Sox were busted using Apple watches to steal signs. He even stated the penalties would be more severe if caught. The Trashtros basically gave Manfred the finger and said catch us if you (trash) can.

Players stealing signs and communicating them to the batter when standing on second base with hand signals and other signals has been going on since the 1800’s and is legal according to the rules.

Stealing signs has been around for quite awhile nobody is disputing that, and while introducing technology is new, the players in the league knew or, at the least had some pretty grounded suspicions. And yet, the Astros persisted despite being told by MLB to knock-it-off; this has been an on-going issue for many seasons now. There was plenty of opportunity for the Astros to stop what they were doing, they didn't. Cora, despite the warnings, continued the practice with the Red Sox, to which that investigation will soon uncover how pervasive that was. The crux is, they got caught despite being told to stop, they defied MLB.

I was watching the MLB network last night and surprisingly the consensus was the punishment handed down should have been tougher.

In the "old days," if a team suspected their signs had been stolen, they'd burn a mound visit by the catcher to switch to a new set of signs. Every team has multiple sets of signals.

You can't truly call yourself "peaceful" unless you are capable of great violence. If you're not capable of great violence, you're not peaceful, you're harmless.

What titles did they win during that era?

It is done guys, history for the Astro's.

Next is the future. The Astro's are a really good ball club. How they do in the future is up to them. They need some pitching help and need to sign Springer. If they do those things they have a good shot at another championship.
I do not care about hearing from Hinch or Lewnow, the Dodgers or anyone else. Just move on. It is done.

At one time, the curve ball was considered cheating, which is pretty funny to think about. That being said, I can see no good coming from this discussion.

Both players were suspended as per MLB, pissed off their teammates who continued to win and was hung out to dry and PNG'd from the organization, they refused to place either on the post-season roster. Yet, you think that title should be taken away as well? The Astros cheating was an organizational issue, Cabrera and Moto were two dumb individuals who openly admitted to PED usage despite a widely publicized, and announced policy. If we're going to take away past rings and pennants for individual stupidity, then there's a whole lot more players than just these two knuckleheads.
