You mean like some people confusing the USWNT as a group of women that actually represents the USA?

I've seen this kind of thing mentioned, before, and it's a bullshit argument. So what if a women's soccer team can't beat a men's soccer team? Isn't that the whole point of having gender-separate teams in the first place? Hasn't the SF membership overwhelmingly criticised the utter ludicrousness of transgenders playing in women's sports?

The problem, in my view, isn't that it's women's soccer. In fact I had been really enjoying the game until that BS foul call and Butch Rappin' Ho scored that PK.

No, the problem is this team is not fit to represent our country.

I know it certainly does not represent mine.

I really give zero fucks if they are LGBTQ - I know that TRIGGERS some around here but honestly I don't care - it's a free country, munch away as long as you don't infringe upon me and mine.

I do take issue with their socialist view of their sport ("Why don't get paid more like the men??) and their injection of politics into the sport.

In the end it's gratifying to know that it's all downhill for them now - sure, a couple of them will have their faces on the front cover of some magazines, or on a box of cereal, but in 1-10 years, nobody will even remember them and they'll be teaching soccer and some school.

It's only soccer after all - a sport the rest of the world worships and mainstream American couldn't give two fucks about.

Too bad. I can only hope for better US offerings in the future.

Now onto the pizza party instead of a national celebration.

The only sport I watched today taking place in Europe was the Tour de France. The riders don’t make their participation about politics, but for the love of their chosen sport.

Don't care about that, either. If they can get paid more for doing what they love: More power to 'em.

That I do care about. Particularly dissin' their flag and their POTUS while overseas.

For that, and that alone, they lose my support. Entirely.

Guess you haven't been paying attention. Soccer is rapidly gaining in popularity in the U.S. To the point where I've read that in some schools their soccer program is now more popular than any of their other sports programs--including *gasp* throwing eggball.

Personally, I find soccer far more interesting to watch than any other sport with the possible exception of ice hockey. Throwing eggball and baseball bore me to tears. Never have found basketball in the least bit interesting.

U.S. Soccer admonishes Megan Rapinoe for kneeling during anthem before match
quote:

For the second time in less than two weeks, Megan Rapinoe knelt during the national anthem Thursday night in Columbus before the U.S. women’s national team took on Thailand in an international friendly. The soccer star first took a knee for the anthem as a member of the NWSL’s Seattle Reign as a “nod” to San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

“The very least that I can do is continue the conversation with [Kaepernick] by kneeling for the anthem,” Rapinoe said following the Reign’s 2-2 draw against the Chicago Red Stars on Sept. 4.

Team USA's Megan Rapinoe 'I’m Not Going to the F*cking White House'
quote:

Team USA soccer superstar Megan Rapinoe is making it crystal clear ... if the U.S. wins the World Cup, there's NO WAY IN HELL she's visiting Donald Trump at The White House.

"I'm not going to the f*cking White House," the 33-year-old co-captain told Eight By Eight Magazine ... "We're not going to be invited."

But you keep that head firmly buried if that's what gets you through the night.
