Sure. Then they toss a Molotov cocktail through the window of you 1967 Anglia Ford and watch it burn in the school parking lot.
How do you fight that?
The law? Shit. The perpetrator was the sheriff's son.

He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster.

My mother never let me run into the house, but made me go back out and face fights.
(and, yeah, it was confusing as hell at the time)

I got my ass kicked until I just got sick and tired of having my ass kicked, and one day just went full on berzerker.

After that, I never got my ass kicked again.

My mother was middle girl with four brothers and grew up in Plainview Kansas in the 40s and early 50s after moving from Bartlesville Oklahoma during the war (Grandfather worked at Boeing).

They lived in a "project" housing and there were a lot of people from all over shoved together with not a lot to do, so fighting was a big deal.

She was 5'3" married 5 times to some of the meanest bastards, and I never, ever saw her back down.

I'll go as far as I can to avoid a fight for the most part, but if I'm in it, I'm all in.

You might whip me, but you will never win.

Trying to understand bullies, their motivation, the reason they choose this one, or that one, focusing on how it makes the victim feel and more along these lines is foolish and waste of brainpower.

Taking the fight to the bully, hard and fast and as often as needed until they learn to lay low is the greater answer.

The world is not a nice place and the universe does not give a fuck if your feelings are hurt.

Yes, it is painful to see this young man in pain, but if he thinks the bullies will ever "become like him" and question themselves, he has a long tougher road ahead.

He needs his dignity, and often, you have to fight for it to get possession of it.

The mother of the kid is now under attack on social media because of past postings of pics of the Confederate flag on her social pages. The PC crowd is now bullying her.

Which brings me to another point about how "bullying" is being (mis)handled.

Kids who are being brought up in the nanny state safe places, end up being the SJA and AntiFA types as well as all manner of Socialist/Communist sympathizers and those who proliferate same.

They end up trying to shame and humiliate anyone and anything they see as more powerful or in a better position than themselves.

Rather than learning how to deal with a true bully, they make any and all things that get in the way of their selfish interests "the bully".

Peter Pan's Never-land, where no one ever grows up, is a pussified existence.

Bullying sucks and all, but I can't see how parents can stick a camera in a kids face and post it online for the world to see.

Oh believe me, I'm right there with you. This whole thing feels way too overexposed.

But whatever, I hope the kid comes out better on the other end.

My wife works at a brand new Cheyenne school that just has 5th and 6th grade. Bullying has been recognized as a big problem in schools for a long time, and her school even has a person whose sole responsibility is anti-bullying, serving as the primary POC for students, teachers, and aides in an attempt to address the problem.

Schools are doing more than they ever have. Schools are spending money on positions to address the issue. The problem is worse than ever.

There you go... there is the problem. If the school got the hell out of it and let some kids beat each other up life would go back to normal. But instead we get involved and install all these snowflake rules and BS and the problem gets worse. Bullying has gone on forever, and its not a new issue. But now everything is "bullying" and these kids have no real tools anymore to deal with it

I'm not sure if it's relevant, but this young man seems to have a wicked scar running several inches down the left side of his head.

I've got mixed feelings on this one. I certainly see the rationale behind teaching him to face his bullies, but this situation sure does tug at your heartstrings. I guess sooner or later life's a bitch and you're just going to have to deal with it. In other news, he's right - bullies suck!

Poor kid. It's hard enough being that age without the misery and terror of being bullied. You're trying to figure out things, trying to be accepted, and to then have to deal with the meddling and cruelty of other kids. That's a Hellish existence for a kid that age.

In part, his tormentors laugh at his looks and call him ugly. That poor little guy is just as God made him. This is a perfect example of why we prohibit such remarks here- any drooling Third Grader can criticize the looks of others.

I feel about this just the way many of you feel- I'd like to wade into the smirking little bastards tormenting this kid and just flat-out tear that ass up, and to tell them while I'm beating their ass why I'm beating their ass.

As for mom- for fuck's sake. It's absurd. What in the world does this have to do with this child? It's utterly absurd that this is in the mix. It's that kind of shit that makes me scan the night sky for a blazing comet. Absurd, non sequitur, puerile, take your pick.

As has been pointed out, this isn't anything new. I tried the "stand and fight" mentality (as an 8th grader getting the crap beat outta me by a HS senior), befriending them, making them laugh, and becoming one myself (not a proud few times, but thankfully I learned not to be that guy quickly).

It's always been an issue, just now it gets to be an issue the whole country gets to read about. For this kid's sake, I pray that he comes out unscathed.

I handled that in school also. Hit back. I didn't have to win, just show I wasn't going to stand there and just take it.

It seems now that it isn't one on one anymore with these 'tough guys' ganging up on one.

Wish I had an answer.
