Very good advice. Of course it takes all the fun away, but it's good advice.

I see at least one road rage nut each day, and I'm only on the freeway for a few miles going to work.
Yesterday traffic is going about 20mph, there is a semi and trailer trying to get on and of course most of the idiots are ingnoring him.
I back off and give him room to merge in, the idiot behind me just loses it, honking and jumping up on my ass. No shots were fired thankfully, but I'm always half expecting it.
I mean where is this guy supposed to put this semi?
These idiots think he should just park it right there in the middle of a freeway onramp?
Unbelievable!

Many years back while riding double car with one of our Dept Detectives, we had a very similar road rager go off on us. We were in an unmarked car, in our jurisdiction.

We merged onto Rt 22, went northbound for two miles, then took the off ramp. A guy passes us on the ramp...then slams on his brakes....and gets out of his car with a baseball bat.

Was he ever surprised when WE jumped out and pulled a couple of pistols on him! He was cuffed and taken back to the Station. Long list of misdemeanor assaults, and other minor offenses. One of those guys with a constant chip on his shoulder.

Unfortunately today there still seems to be a lot of nuts out there who take a minor incident as a personal slap in the face. And want to get verbal or violent.

Is rolling down the windows and yelling "BAD MORMON!" inappropriate, or would it give him pause?

Thanks, brother. We are hanging in there. Wife's 16yo nephew is visiting from Japan. Looking likely he'll be going to his first gun show, this month Smile

Kids are doing okay, thanks, but lots of visits to the vet recently.

Best regards to your superior side and hope all the boys are doing well ! Big Grin

It's definitely the best move but some of them get enraged if they don't get a reaction from you. Keep them weapons handy.

The guy was probably some mild mannered nice guy outside the car, it's amazing how a car can turn someone like that into a raging lunatic. Confused

I've seen this. A couple weeks ago this young crazy gets out of his vehicle in downtown traffic at a stoplight. He starts pounding on the hood of an old couples minivan yelling "don't ignore me m'fers" again and again.
Then he turns on other drivers who are watching yelling "you want some of this m'fer."
He was out of his mind with rage.
We've had something like 40 days of a heatwave and it seems this brings out the worst in these maniacs.

I think only about half of those living in Salt Lake Valley are Mormon, so maybe a 50/50 chance?

IIRC there was an such an event in TX a few years ago, a bully type stopped at an intersection, got out of his truck to get physical with the driver in front of him. The driver pulled out a gun, I think one shot stop, grand jury said all was proper.

Today, just N of Denver, I was in the middle of 3 lanes on divided highway. I believe I was cruising at 78 mph and I'm not even sure I was far enough N of metro Denver for the speed limit to be 75.

I see a guy in a Nissan pickup come up behind me. He flashes his light at me, then flies around me in the R lane and dives in front of me.

I had never experienced anything like that. I'm really conscientious about not hanging in the L lane--in fact that's one of the things I hate about driving the Front Range--the people who sit in the L lane.

It never occurred to me that I should be moving over in the middle lane too (and I've been driving a long time). Guess it was a bad day for that guy and he just wanted to share it.
