Not sure if you cryptobros watched the crypto senate hearing but it was very positive.

The shirt of it is-

ICOs = IPOs and are securities.
Once out of ICO stage crypto is commodities.
They have no jurisdiction but will surveil for manipulation just like the spot market.

I'm not sure what capacity "1 petaflop" is.

A petaflop is 1000 teraflops.

A a decent video card in the $500 range can do about 9 Teraflops per second.

People are stringing up multiple video cards to a single mining rig, so maybe a $6000 computer could turn out 100 teraflops.

And FLOPS are "floating point operations per seconds".

Here is a math table which shows how powerful the supercomputer capable of 1 petaflop was : http://www.math.com/tables/gen.../measures/metric.htm

ETA: Thanks Aeteocles for that info about the power of modern video cards. I knew that NVIDA's stock was going up because of Bitcoin et al., but I didn't realize that video cards were so powerful these days.

Buy Tulips in the long haul. Short haul, there’s money to be made if you’re up to dancing in a fire hoping not to get burned. Still, it’s guts and timing as is everything.

That's about it for everything, isn't it?

Guts and timing.

Good distillation. One can analyze all they want but, in the end, it still comes down to guts and timing.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

No it's the ultimate vaporware. You get monopoly money for greenbacks. Plus there's something utterly preposterous about the amount of energy being used to support this.

This one buy doubled bitcoins value.

Then there's Tether which seems to print money as needed.

I know some people who like to hustle instead of work. They were mortgage brokers involved in the mortgage debacle, ran a medical marijuana store when it was a grey area and now promote crypto currencies.

You could of thrown some money into it 8 years ago but not today. If you want to play you should be looking at what's just evolving and will be "it" 4 years from now.
