My first wife's maiden name was very Hispanic. However, her Mexican forbears were entirely European, and her appearance was utterly European. She was a white as a person can be (far paler than German/English me) and she is a natural redhead, like Reloader-1's cousin. It really torqued the Hispanic student organization at UT when she went in to get her scholarship check - they didn't think she was "really" Hispanic. And my wife now is a quarter Hispanic. Her grandmother was a white Spaniard from Baja California. You can get my wife a little huffy if you call her a Mexican. "They were Spanish, not Mexicans." Her grandmother was a racist - the "Mexicans" to her were the Indians and mestizos, and a little of that sticks even now. There are a lot of white Hispanics. I married two of them. The fish is mute, expressionless. The fish doesn't think because the fish knows everything. | |||
