So, who is going to vote for Rauner for a second term?

I have to. The alternative makes me shudder.

Does it really matter? The state legislature has been, is, and will continue to be, completely owned by the leftists in that state, so they'll continue to circle the bowl regardless who the governor is.

Rauner is toast. Ya'll had your chance to pick a conservative in the primary.
Pritzker is even worse but he will win. Illinois will default. Then it really gets ugly.

Makes me sick to vote for Rauner. The alternative is huge rubber stamped tax increases.

Sad but true as it is going to get really ugly. I finally convinced the wife of that and we are not going to put any money into our house other than needed repairs as it would be pissing away money. Several houses are up for sale on the area and they are not selling even as sellers continue to slash their asking price. No one wants a $300,000 home where the property taxes are $1000 a month and it is only going to get worse as the democrats look at enormous increases in any and all taxes to continue their orgy of deficit spending.

The state income tax rate almost double a couple years ago with zero promise to cut any spending and that state financial condition is as bad as ever.

What a shame as Illinois could be a great state if not for the malignant tumor Crook County killing it.

I have to vote for Rauner, poor choice but better than Pritzker.
Not voting solves nothing, pick the best of the two evils and hold your nose when you cast your vote.

Hmm....

Bruce Rauner or Buddy Hackett?

Buddy has told us he will raise taxes and is on tape wheeling/dealing with our current incarcerated ex governor.

It’s not going to be pretty. I guess I’m going to have to deal with Rauner for another term. Ptitzker is not getting my vote.

JB is a fat version of Rod Blowjob. At least Rauner did veto some anti gun bill’s. Including the one helped along by Springfield Armory and Rock River Arms. Remember that one?

Mrs beltfed should be retired within six months..... then goodbye Illinois!

Yes, you and most people who can get out while the getting out is good.

What the Dems. have done to Illinois is unsustainable... and JB is ready to double-down on stupid.

JPMorgan Expert: Illinois Bankruptcy Option Needed - True Debt, Pension, Health Costs Would Consume Half Of Revenue

Michael Cembalest is Chairman of Market and Investment Strategy at J.P. Morgan Asset Management.

His report released yesterday, The ARC and the Covenants, updates his earlier research comparing the percentage of state revenues needed to pay interest on general obligation debt, and meet all future pension and retiree healthcare obligations. [The link to the report appears to be working sporadically: https://www.jpmorgan.com/directdoc/ARC4_ES.pdf ]

Most states, he concludes, have manageable burdens (which he defines as 15% or less).

Not Illinois, which is far worst among the states. By his calculations, 51% of state revenue would have to go towards debt, pensions and retiree healthcare to reach full funding, and that would take 30 years. He assumes all pensions will earn 6% per year on invested assets. His comparison chart is below.

Sorry IL, looks like the Putz is ahead by 15 points. It was always an uphill battle with Madegan in the State House anyway.

Feel free to jump to WI, Walker should win this next election again.

Pritzker Wants to Raise State Pension Payments, Offers No Specifics

J.B. Pritzker / Getty Images

Incoming Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker recently got candid about pensions and one-party rule with Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel.

Pritzker was the guest of Emanuel’s weekly podcast, Chicago Stories. Pritzker did open up about what he wants to accomplish in his first term as Illinois’ top executive.

Emanuel asked the Chicago billionaire about what he’ll do about the state's $130 billion pension debt, which is putting pressure on the state budget. Pritzker said the state should pay more up front, but didn't get into details.

"We’re going to have to look at the amortization schedule, the amount of money we’re putting in, to raise that up," he said. "This is all one budget."

As President Barack Obama’s chief of staff when Democrats had majorities in both the U.S. House and Senate, Emanuel knows what it's like to direct policy with a ruling party. Emanuel asked Pritzker if he had any concerns about such a steep one-party rule that he will be presiding over come January.

" There are never too many Democrats ," Pritzker said. "We roughly share the same values across the Democratic Party … I think we’re going to get a lot done to raise wages in the state, to lower the cost of healthcare, to make college more affordable."

Pritzker will inherit a state budget passed by the General Assembly and signed into law by Gov. Bruce Rauner that is estimated by his own office to be about $1 billion out of balance . Pritzker also will be responsible for the state's past-due bills, about $7 billion worth. Pritzker didn’t give specifics on how he’d address the backlog of bills.

When you already have a budget $1 billion out of balance, how do you further increase government spending?
How do you put more into the state pension fund, raise wages in the state, lower the cost of healthcare, and make college more affordable."???
How does the math work?

The math does not have to work. You increase spending, don't pay your bills, and promise to tax the rich so they will finally start paying "their fare share".......
