A pioneering judge, who became the first Muslim woman in US history to serve on the bench, was found dead Wednesday — washed up on the Manhattan side of the Hudson River, sources said.

Sheila Abdus-Salaam, 65, was discovered floating in the water near 132nd Street and Hudson Parkway at around 2:15 p.m., according to police sources.

Witnesses had spotted her fully clothed body and called 911, cops said.

Sources told The Post that Abdus-Salaam, who is an associate judge of the Court of Appeals, had been reported missing from her home in Harlem earlier in the day.

Her husband later identified her body. Sources said it showed no obvious signs of trauma or injuries indicating criminality or foul play.

Police are still investigating.

In addition to being the country’s first Muslim female judge, Abdus-Salaam was the first ever African-American to be appointed to the state’s Court of Appeals.

Its a dang shame. Although on the whole, I disapprove of federal judges trying swim full clothed.

Didn't know swimming was allowed in the Hudson.

Probably didn't have a life guard on duty.

Nice weather we've been having.

I wonder who she put away that might have wanted some payback.
Probably a long list of suspects.

Right now they are leaning towards a suicide. You never know what's going on inside of someone's head.

65 years old. no evidence of a crime or foul play. or trauma. Could be simply an accident. Dementia could happen early.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." As a high school kid I worked for the Palisades Interstate Park commission in the summers doing maintancne work. It was basically landscaping for the state parks. These parks are what you see on the NJ side to the right of the George Washington Bridge. Those cliffs you see were often used for people to commit suicide along with the jumping off of the actual bridge. Part of our job was to fish out dead bodies close to the NJ shore line and get them down off the cliffs when they didn't make it all the way down. I don't think I ever saw a body come out of the water that didn't have some signs of trauma.

OK, why the word games? "Suspicious"? Is it so hard to admit that this "trailblazing pioneer" (what a freakin' joke), who was suffering from depression, committed suicide?????

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2017...edly-suspicious.html

The death of the first female Muslim U.S. judge—who was found dead last week on the banks of New York’s Hudson River--- is still being investigated and is reportedly considered suspicious.

Sheila Abdus-Salaam's body was discovered along the riverside near Harlem on Wednesday, a day after she was reported missing, police said. Police said her body showed no obvious signs of trauma.

Police sources told CBS2 that family and friends have said she was struggling with depression. Police told the station that although her death is being considered suspicious, there are no signs of criminality.

Abdus-Salaam, who was 65 years old, graduated from Barnard College and received her law degree from Columbia Law School. She started her career as a staff attorney for East Brooklyn Legal Services and served as a judge in Manhattan state Supreme Court for 14 years, according to the state Office of Court Administration's website.

Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who appointed Abdus-Salaam to the state's Court of Appeals in 2013, called her a "trailblazing jurist."

"As the first African-American woman to be appointed to the state's Court of Appeals, she was a pioneer," Cuomo said. "Through her writings, her wisdom and her unshakable moral compass, she was a force for good whose legacy will be felt for years to come."

Chief Judge Janet DiFiore said her colleague will be "missed deeply."

"Her personal warmth, uncompromising sense of fairness and bright legal mind were an inspiration to all of us who had the good fortune to know her," DiFiore said.

Former Chief Judge Jonathan Lippman said he knew Abdus-Salaam for many years. He said her death of was "difficult to understand."

"The court has suffered a terrible blow," he said.

Oh, wait. She was depressed, walked off from her home, and then she was found the next day dead in the river, with no signs of trauma. Wait. I'm getting something here. Yes, I see it. This is definitely "suspicious". Just because it gives all appearances of being a suicide, there must be some grand conspiracy here. Certainly, we should not take the evidence at face value. No, we have to construct a conspiracy.

Yes, that's it. She was murdered in an extremely clever fashion by racists who hated her for her achievements. Roll Eyes

For fuck's sake! She killed herself. Happens every single day on this planet. Every single day. Get over it. Stop making excuses for this woman.
