Supposedly an experimental Shelby 427 Mustang is in the works. The guy, who has ties to Shelby, would not open the hood or even tell me what block its based on. However, it sounded incredible. Normally, I'd be the first one to call BS on a claim like this, but the Dash Plaque looks pretty convincing.

It's not so much an entire car as it is just an experimental engine package as of right now. The car is very basic, including wheels, tires and brakes. However, this particular one had a stock looking axle, but Shelby trailing links and a BIG aluminum radiator. I don't know much more about it as the guy was very adamant that he was not allowed to divulge any details.

Wonder where they are going to get the engine blocks from? I know Ford isn't casting any. An aftermarket foundry supplier, perhaps?

The bigger the hole, the harder they squirt!

I'm going to guess it's something Cleveland based, but that's a total shot in the dark. It could very well be a true big-block, but I guess we'll have to wait and see.

"...and the speedometer went up to 200 MPH, and after the 200 MPH there was more room and the words "OH WOW"!"

I'd still much rather have a GT. (No, not a Mustang GT, a Ford GT, duh.)

..................................................................................................................
A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and he carries his banners openly. But the traitor moves among those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the galleys, heard in the very hall of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor - he speaks in the accents familiar to his victims, and wears their face and their garment, and he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation - he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of a city - he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to be feared. ∑ Cicero, 42 B.C. (2008 A.D. by proxy)

Custom User Title. Instead of it saying "Member" beneath your name you get to choose what you want. Limitations being if the mods give it to you in the first place and the content.

I would say its probably very similar to the Roush 427R engine. Roush uses a 351 Windsor block which is then "stroked" out to the 427 displacement. Since the one picture shows the 427 stroker insignia it's probably very similar. Roush uses DART blocks so perhaps Shelby would use them also. They make a fine product I know the Roush motor puts out 550 HP and 535 pound feet of torque.

Ive looked into these motors since I recently started a resto-mod on my dream car, a 66 Mustang. I really wanted the 427R but given all the extra work just to make it fit I decided to go with the Roush 353R which is built on the 302 block. Still puts out an impressive 480 HP and 460 pound feet of torque for significantly less cash and drops in on the original mounts. She's still a long way from being ready for an engine but some day in the not so distant future I'll be done.

If only I knew what I was talking about

The 2011 Ford GT500 should be getting an aluminum block. That would be the one I would get. Smile
