At 67 m.p.h. my front end on the "04" , starts to vibrate , noticeably.
I had the tires rotated and the mechanic noticed that the front right tire was worn differently .

So I asked google and 7 pages of people with the same problem came up.

and out of the 7 pages I could not find a 100% sure fire remedy .

anyone here know the answer ?

only 88,000 miles on the car

All the rubber is wore out and the front wheel drive is pulling it out of alignment.

On the rack it is in spec, but the instant it gets enough pull from the drive wheel, it moves out of alignment.

I believe mars is referring to the rubber bushings cushioning the front end suspension components.

Your car is old as dirt and if you haven't replaced the bushings, it would be a good time to. Big Grin

I just purchased it in december, am wondering about a specific set of names for the individual rubbers that might require replacement

Rogue, I want one.

It will help in flooded areas. Just needs a snorkle and a winch.

here's the thing, w/o an exact fix remedy , the mechanic won't just start throwing new parts at it and charging me.

within the 7 pages of google problems, 8 different sets of fixes, did not actually work.

new tires ,rims, brake drums, shocks, struts, motor mounts , alignment, tie rod ends, cv joints, bearings

I rebuilt the front end of my car to resolve a shaking issue. What I found was two bad ball joints a lot of worn bushings.

Of all the things you listed, as you said earlier, no one checked to see if the bushes are perished.

Did the vibration go away after rotating? Did you rebalance when you rotated? How many miles were on the tires since last rotation? The RF on a fwd will almost always be the quickest wear if the car is properly aligned. It does most of the accelerating and driving.

I don't wish to sound snobbish about mechanics ...but if it were mine, I'd take to a place that specializes in alignments.

My uneducated impression is that there are various degrees of checking alignment. The average guys seem only able to do a basic check ....the specialists are able to be more thorough.

Good luck ! mike

PS: for example...years ago , I had a tire that was in the early stages of tread separation....They couldn't actually see anything abnormal but I felt a mild buzz and they couldn't balance one tire very well. Replaced that tire ...all was well !

Since rotating the tires didn't resolve it - all the tires could be bad... but usually you don't see that unless they're really worn.

Bad strut(s) in the front?
