The demise of California
Unfortunately (for the rest of us), when California does explode, all those improvident illegal aliens will flee to the surrounding states (and beyond). We have GOT to find and deport them!

I and my family have visited my wifes father in San Pedro a few times. Part of those visits took us into LA, and the most memorable thing I recall was all the trash on roadsides, under bridges, and blowing around like tumbleweeds. This was almost 10 years ago, and my assumption that it has gotten worse before better.

California (southern) is just another shithole country...

Two Californias
By Victor Davis Hanson
December 15, 2010

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

I read that article. The idiots brag about that high speed train that cost 10 billion, but by 2014 needed 25% of ANOTHER REVENUE SOURCE, to be continued. If I had 10 billion to build something, and they couldnt get it done in 6 months, they are fired.

And to all those who'd say you can't deport 12 million people (primarily because of the sheer numbers/cost), I'd say we can't afford NOT to!

Further, I submit it would be a hell of a lot easier to deport those 12 million illegal aliens than to confiscate 100 million firearms!

Amtrak took me through the SanJoaquin Valley n 2006. Where the vagrants slept and camped along the tracks was just one big trash pile after another. Leaving LA on Amtrak going toward Riverside , CA was just one continuous sream of trashand rubbish.

I think it's a growing movement... and it's much more likely that Cali would split into 2 or 3 states than secession from the US.

Why? Well, because much of California is federal land, and the San Diego Naval base is very valuable to the US.

I have lived a few years in the state, quite a few. Mostly in the southern part and the hi-desert. And I will say I was amazed at how many conservatives are there. If you go to down to San Bernardino and Orange, you will find some very conservative gun loving Americans. Problem is they are out numbered.

I know plenty of Marines who got their concealed carry permits from the San Bern Sherrif. It was actually pretty conservative out there.

But....it is a lost cause overall. Fight the good fight, but perform a tactical withdrawal. Set up lines in AZ or NM.

CA is lost.

What, put Walmart out of business? I really need them to stay open in case I have to grab a box of ammunition on my way to the range.

I worked a wild land fire detail this past fall in Happy Camp Ca. Everyone in that part of the state already has “State of Jefferson” stickers on their vehicles. I even saw them on some local Fire and Rescue equipment. They considered everything south of Medford to be Mexico, or SoCal at least.

This is by design. It furthers and simplifies the ability to gain and keep political control and continue to profit from it.

Sure. Until they kill the golden goose, and then discover that Uncle Sam isn't going to bail them out.

At which point, if anyone actually did make money off of the ongoing crisis, California is going to have to sue them to claw back some of that money simply because California's going to need every source of revenue it can get its grubby little paws on.

The trash problem is a cultural problem. Every town in CA has regular trash pick up. However, it's tied to your address. If you have 2 or 3 residencies piggybacking on the only legal address, you won't have enough trash capacity. Hence, rural trash dumping. Ever traveled along the boonies of Mexico? Trash just dumped willy nilly.

The libs of SF, Santa Barbara and LA rarely venture along I-5. They have no idea of the mess they've created nor do they care.

Yep.

And - make no mistake - that time bomb is a suicide vest, and they hold the mechanism very tightly.

What they want is for the saner-49 to be enablers, by sending money. What they need, is for the rest of us - like Atlas - to shrug.

Seems to me the root of CA's demise is defacto socialism (aks social justice, diversity, equality). Under the guise of helping the needy, politicians help themselves and effectively subjugate the needy (including illegals). The end result will be to abandon the rule of law and bankrupt the state.

My wife's home town, which we gladly left 14 years ago. The area was going downhill back then too. SIL still lives east of Clovis and is completely clueless of what's happening around her.

20 years ago I sat in an academic conference in which a Hispanic professor said-- proudly-- that "La Raza" would reclaim ( the"reconquista") California just through the power of numbers as Mexicans crossed the Rio Grande and settled in California. No battles, no fighting, just simply take it over.

America would just give up one of its biggest states? Meekly hand it over? It seemed a bit far fetched then.

Not only has it been given up, they are patting them selves on the back for it. Pathetic.

I spent a few days in Hanford last spring

what an awesome little town, the town square was a really nice touch with the park environment and the merry-go-round across from the theater
