We had a Wii U for the family for many years. Youngest are now 9 so this Christmas I switched the the XBox One S. I thought the kids might be a little upset, but they really like it and I like the games much better! I never played the Wii U much.

If he wants a PS4, I think it will work out fine, plenty of games appropriate for his age and he can grow into it.

I really like racing games, fun for everyone to play, my 13yo daughter is really getting into cars now after playing Forza Horizon 3 and watching "The Grand Tour."
