Anyone have a recommendation for a hotel in Phoenix with a good restaurant on site or within walking distance. Thanks

What part of ‘Phoenix’ are you planning on staying in?

The Hyatt downtown has a rotating restaurant on the top floor called Compass, which is pretty good. Then there are the casinos just east of the 101 in Scottsdale - Casino Arizona and Talking Stick. The Westin Kierland in Scottsdale is near a bunch of places that are very walkable. Too many to list. Need to know where you want to be. Phoenix is ginormous.

The Phoenix metro is 70 miles from east to west. Location is very important. Are you needing to be near the airport?

Not Phoenix buts close and nice.

Marriot resort in Tempe has a nice restaurant and the view at night is great.

There are quite a few Marriott properties on Scottsdale Rd. At Bell (Frank Lloyd Wright) and Scottsdale Rd you have Maggiano's for Italian and Capital Grille for meat. There is also a Persian restaurant on the other corner (Southwest). Within driving distance ( about 3-4 miles)is Mastro's steakhouse (Highly Recommend), Ocean 44, Nobu, Royal Palms.

The hotel itself though is in desperate need of an update. If Phoenix means the greater Phoenix area then I would recommend the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess or Hyatt Gainey Ranch.

Not really. Many people associate Scottsdale, Tempe, Ahwatukee, Peoria, Cave Creek, Glendale, Avondale, Carefree and Paradise Valley all as part of Phoenix. They don't know the makeup of the city or where the city lines are. Ehh it's no big deal to me. I'm always happy to help people new to the Phoenix area, unless they're Democrats.

Personally, I wouldn’t pick a hotel based on its in-house restaurant. I’d pick a hotel and Uber/Lyft to one of the many great restaurants in the valley.

Assuming not to far from the airport, with easy freeway access and ‘character’ I’d say Arizona Grand (formerly Pointe South Mountain) and dine at Rustler’s Roost for the experience. Both are older and have quirks. How often can you go down a slide before dinner?

X2: Tempe Buttes is also a recommendation. Even closer to the airport.

Off topic, but do you know where Bartlett Dam is? I'm one of 2 persons actually born there. (In the little dispensary for the construction workers--my dad helped build the dam.)

Tempe Mission Palms Hotel and Conference Center

See ya on the 'Butte just before dawn. Yes, they have a restaurant but the breakfast buffet has dropped a long long way in quality. $28.95 in 2002 for an amazing AAAAA-rated buffet is now a $15.95 AAA buffet.

There are, however, a zillion eateries within four blocks, as you're immediately upon the edge ASU campus and adjacent to prime corporate offices.

Almost-free light rail into Phoenix. Monorail from PHX to the light rail.

Is it like Horseshoe Reservoir dam? Way way out in the wilds?

My experience isn’t recent, but when I lived in Phoenix I often went to the Sheraton Phoenix Crescent for its excellent restaurant. I-17 frontage road & W Dunlap Ave. It was near my home.

I am already half nuts and hard at work on the other half. I appreciate all the responses. It really won't matter what area i stay in as the appointment will be meeting me wherever I will be staying. Just looking for nice place to stay good food.

Off topic: I see you are from Dothan. If you have any interest in aviation, and want to see a historic war bird that used to be a crop sprayer in Dothan, then head to: Airbase Arizona of the Commemorative Air Force. It’s at Falcon Field in Mesa. The B-25J Mitchell ‘Maid in the Shade’ worked for the Dothan Aviation Corp. starting in September of 1960.

See azcaf.org for more info.

Enjoy your trip!
