I still have the regular old CRT's - a Proscan and a Philips. I'm of the, if it works fine don't waste money on a replacement, school. I can always go over to someone else's house to watch fancy bigscreen, high def. digital TV. I'm getting miserly in my old age.

But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and he carries his banners openly. But the traitor moves among those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the galleys, heard in the very hall of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor - he speaks in the accents familiar to his victims, and wears their face and their garment, and he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation - he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of a city - he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to be feared. ∑ Cicero, 42 B.C.

I gave my 10-year-old 27" CRT to my girlfriend when hers went out; I just sold my 5-year-old 32" CRT (2-man carry heavy bastard!). I'll wait until I get to Turkey to buy a flatscreen-LCD-plasma-rear-projection-computer-monitor-wonder-wafer-time-waster at the BX.

Samsung DLP and Panasonic Plasma. Much prefer the plasma. After 3 years the DLP is showing display problems. Horizontal lines around the borders against light backdrop and really bright light colors (usually sky) show harsh pixelation. Didn't have them before and remains no matter the setting. Admittedly I have not called a tech. Granted the plasma is about a year old but the picture is more pleasing. Rich blacks and more eye popping color. Potentially less problems since there are no color wheels or bulbs to burn out. I will say though the DLP has a more smooth film like quality when watching movies compared to plasma.

50" Panasonic 1080P plasma in my home theater. Once HDMI took over I needed something with multiple HDMI inputs to accommodate a HD-DVD player, PS3 for Bluray, and cable box. I still have a 50" Pioneer Elite RPTV in my bedroom and a regular 50" Pioneer RPTV in my office. Since flat panels got popular no one wants to pay much for a RPTV so I might as well keep them and get some use out of them.

I've been through alot of tv's.
When I lived at my parents, we had a 73" DLP Mitsubishi Diamond Tron, a 65" Rear Projection LCD Sony XBR, a 52" Vizio LCD, and a Sony LCD Projector on a 200" screen. All at the same time. Literally had 3 different TV rooms, not counting the TV's in bedrooms.
Now that I live alone, I've got a 42" Sony Plasma, a 37" Sharp Aquos LCD, and a 52" Samsung LCD. The Aquos LCD, even though older, has the best color. The Plasma is the brightest.
I had a 32" samsung HD-CRT, great for movies and the like, but terrible for games...the pixel dimensions are different at the edges of the screen (the nature of CRTs) and so the heads up display for video games would get all blurry along the outside edges of the screen. Gave it to my brother for spare-room duty.

None of the above... What about the DLP guys and I am sure there are a lot of guys with rear projection big screens that were top of the line six to eight years ago.

That makes me sad. We have a Samsung 50" plasma, only a month old. Love the picture quality. It does have a touch of glare (not noticeable during the sports programming I watch), but our CRT had that, too.

HDTV technology isn't anywhere close to that point yet. At 1920 x 1080 resolution, that's only equivalent to a 2-megapixel camera. That's not even enough for printing 5 x 7 photos.

LCD Sony Bravia and love it. I'd buy another Sony LCD if buying again right now. We do have an old CRT or two that we still have hooked up.

You're one of the only other people I know that's had a Loewe. My first HDTV was a 32" Loewe. My current is a 62" JVC LCoS. I've never seen any HDTV picture anywhere as good as those old Loewe CRT HDTV's.
