Anyone ever heard of "Boston Dynamics" before? Is this real?

Boston Dynamics is a real company. They compete in many of the DARPA projects. Google owns them.

Skynet is coming.

NSFW due to language.

ETA: Same video as 556 posted above, but more colorful commentary.

They probably run on Windows which means they will probably just BSOD and drag their robotic asses in circles across the ground when they get a virus. No worries.

I kept waiting for that robot to go Terminator on the guy with the hockey stick. If not now, won't be long.

Do you take issue with specifics within the article or just with the Telegraph in general?

It's typical speculative, alarmist drivel.

No substance, no real attribution, and an awful lot of "could be's" and "maybe's" and "what if's".

What's really annoying, is that it had the potential to be a good story if the author wasnt so lazy.

"Take it from me, some serious shit might happen, look Elon Musk says so!"

I think I just hate journalists now.

I like how the legs speed up to prevent tripping like a real human would.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.
