In 1977, this woman was inducted into the National Cowgirl Hall of Fame in Fort Worth, Texas. In 2001, she was given the title of Honorary Sergeant, Regular Army, by then-president Bill Clinton.
The National American Woman Suffrage Association of the early twentieth century adopted this woman as a symbol of women's worth and independence.

I think you are looking for, "Who was Sacagawea?"
According to the Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame website she was actually inducted in 1976.
