This makes me so sad. Regardless of religous bullshit or not, this individual took it upon himself to destroy the lives of others and their families. I don't really care what his cause was...I just hope he pays for his horrible actions in the worst possible way. I hope the families find the strength to carry on and I will think of them much more than this scumbag.

How to help? Investigage all Muslims in the US military and then purge, yes purge, all who present the least security risk to other soldiers, airmen/women and sailors. AND those who present a substantial security risk -- isolate them in military facilities where they can do no harm. Yes, this is WAR! 10th Amendment: The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people. |

I haven't heard about them doing this in the US. I have heard of some "honor killings", but I've also heard about Americans raping and killing old ladies for the change in their pockets. I couldn't care less what they do in their own countries, what values they have and the type of justice they practice. In fact, how many times after a child molester is gruesomely executed do people here say "Gee, I wish we could do that here"? I made a post a while back about a Muslim friend of mine who served in Vietnam through two tours, and whose dad was wounded in the Pacific in WWII while in the US Navy and whose son was killed in a car crash after joining the Army. His family has been here since before WWI. I didn't hear any responses. Does anyone have the balls to tell him he should be "sent back" because he's a Muslim? |

So kick out ALL muslims from the US Armed Forces, regardless of due process, whether they are loyal citizens, regardless of how they have served this country, shedding blood and sweat, selflessly going in harm's way so YOU don't have to, and damn those pesky inconvenient 'rights' in the process. Nope, nothing 'extremist' about that. Funny how everybody here likes to 'support the troops', yet wants to instantly turn on and condemn a large proportion of them who are serving honorably just because of their religious affiliations. How 16th century of you. Why stop at the military, then? If the "all muslims everywhere" line is what we are going after, lets just lock up or 'purge' all muslims from US society. That's where this line of 'reasoning' will naturally lead. If they can't be trusted in our armed services, they can't be trusted 'on the street'. And what about the woman who shot and stopped him? Heck, she's female. We all "KNOW" that women have no place in law enforcement or military pursuits - they should be limited to clerical or secretarial work. This is a "man's job", after all, and everybody knows women can't hack this sort of work. Standards will slip so the women can qualify, and the services will be weaker because of it. See how ridiculous this "condemn a whole class of people based on the actions of a few" approach is? No arsenal is so formidable as the will and moral courage of free men and women. Ronald Reagan |

So i suppose these American soldiers should have been "purged" from the military according to some of you guys then?
They all have at least three things in common. They all were American citizens, they all made the ultimate sacrifice for their country, and they were all Muslims. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/...n-musl_b_135964.html http://www.voanews.com/english...m?moddate=2007-07-27 http://www.veteranstoday.com/article1621.html I found the information on these three brave souls in less than 5 minutes with google. Maybe if some of you did a little more research and a little less drum beating you would see how foolish some of the things you say are. Kevin Huh? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller? Anyone want to attempt to argue this one with me? Karma? Karma is just justice without the satisfaction. |

Hound Dog,
Did you miss that which I now have bolded for you to maybe again read? If they are not a security risk, then no problem.

NO, there is a VERY BIG PROBLEM. You said if they don't pose a significant security risk, you would PURGE THEM (after, of course, violating their rights by doing an intrusive search in violation of those pesky Constitutional Rights. Read your own post. You generously limit prison for life only to those who, in your opinion, pose a risk to security. Have you ever served your country in the armed forces? I certainly hope you wouldn't make these sweeping statements without knowing at least a little bit of what you speak from real experience. . . And you would deny the right to serve to those who don't meet YOUR expections of loyalty. No arsenal is so formidable as the will and moral courage of free men and women. Ronald Reagan |

In the darkest hour, some idiot will say the darkest thing.
The "least security risk," like interned housewives of Japanese ancestry, or a gay Arab linguist, I'm guessing that for some people "swarthy" = "security risk." Could we wait for the families to have a chance to bury the dead before going completely off the rails? |

Aloha,
Didn't the US go thru something similar by rounding up and placeing Americans of Japanese Ancestry in "Internment Camps" and Stealing all their hard earned property? With 0 compensation. Many proved their loyalty by enlisting and dieing in WWII. My Uncle, all 5'3" was one of the ones who came home. I never heard him talk about his exprences. |

I believe many were also allowed to work in defense plants in the central states, away from the coasts. |

Doesn't change the fact that their rights were stripped from them sibply based on a FALSE belief of where their loyalties would lie. . . The govt 'knew' best, of course. No arsenal is so formidable as the will and moral courage of free men and women. Ronald Reagan |

I read some old newspaper columns from the 1880's. They were advocating sending all the Poles "back where they came from" because the stereotype was that they'd be loyal to the Pope and not the United States, and that they were all a bunch of anarchists. I believe this was during an economic depression, maybe around 1883. Also around that time I think there were several anarchist bombings around the country.

Without due process to U.S. citizen?
And, how would we know who presents a least or substantial security risk? Unconstitutional questioning? Or, look at their skin color and see what their enlistment paper says on their religion block? If abolishing Bill of Rights would help war, would you go for that too? |

ya know, a lot of the media has been focusing on a few 'facts' in this case. Who knows if it was his real motivaton, but it is what we have at this point.
A) His Islamic religion was made fun of B) He wasn't happy in the Army C) He was unsuccessful in getting out of the army D) He was afraid of being deployed to a combat zone E) He was afraid that he would have to fight and kill Muslims Lets look at these... A) Well imagine that, this is America, where free speech rules. Lets compare the number of Christian jokes to Muslim jokes and see how you stack up. This is a bullshit excuse if its real. B) Imagine that. You weren't happy in the Army. Neither was Klinger but YOU weren't drafted, YOU volunteered. This is a bullshit excuse if its real. C) IMAGINE that... after spending $500K on your medical education, the Army just might not be willing to let you out of your committment because you suddenly decided you don't like being a Dr. there. This is a bullshit excuse if its real. D) No shit, any soldier that I have ever met has been concerned about being deployed to a combat zone. This is a chickenshit excuse. E) Hey, here's a clue. You're a DOCTOR, and a Major, not an infantry private. Doctors aren't issued weapons and told to kill the enemy, especially psychologists. This is the biggest bullshit/chickenshit excuse. Oh, and as an added bonus there Sparky, you didn't attack the people who made fun of you, you didn't attack the guy who told you that you can't leave, the person that told you would be deployed, or anyone else connected with your 'suffering'. You chose instead to gun down enlisted personnel in their final steps before deployment. I don't care what anyone says about ideology, this religion against that, what the Bible or Quoran says, or what Muslims or Christians did 800 years ago. This was mass murder. It was an act of terrorism. A uniformed soldier firing on fellow soldiers is a traitor. So there you have it; he is a mass murdering terrorist traitor. End of story. ... all part of my master plan to *bop* the man! Nothing can be everything. Everything can be nothing. Keep your stick on the ice. Remember, we're all in this together. |

You keep saying "excuse" but I don't think that's as correct as "cause". The guy was nuts. Any one of those seemingly innocuous reasons could have been enough to set off this nut, let alone several in combination.
I bet if he would have been told: "Ok, we believe you'd be a better asset to the Army here at home, and you don't have to go to bad old Afghanistan, and you can finish your 20 years and start collecting your pension" he wouldn't have gone off then. Would that be the sign of a radical Islamic terrorist? A guy who decides not to kill a bunch of Americans after all if he gets to stay in America and watch "Price Is Right" every day while collecting his paycheck? This guy was a nutjob who did his best to look like a put-upon Muslim/Arab because it was better than going out looking like a solider turned coward who couldn't deal with doing his duty. |
