The current EVOO thread reminded me that I need an EVOO cruet (I’ve been pouring right out of the bottle). This one looks simple, durable, and and reasonably attractive. It’s fairly inexpensive to boot.

What are you guys using?

We use the bottle that the oil comes in. Pretty pictures of the olive grove on the label.

I think you're right. I cancelled the order and ordered this one instead;

Thanks for the tip!

Pour it out of the bottle. Those cruets always seem like an unnecessary pain in the ass. Is there a legitimate reason that we should be using one?

"The people hate the lizards and the lizards rule the people."
"Odd," said Arthur, "I thought you said it was a democracy."
"I did," said Ford, "it is."
"So," said Arthur, hoping he wasn't sounding ridiculously obtuse, "why don't the people get rid of the lizards?"
"It honestly doesn't occur to them. They've all got the vote, so they all pretty much assume that the government they've voted in more or less approximates the government they want."
"You mean they actually vote for the lizards."
"Oh yes," said Ford with a shrug, "of course."
"But," said Arthur, going for the big one again, "why?"
"Because if they didn't vote for a lizard, then the wrong lizard might get in."

We cleaned up a California Ranch EVOO green bottle with the finger grooved sides to include removing all labels. Simple and practical. Smile

Refill it through a funnel from a much larger EVOO bottle.

I've poured EVOO straight out of the bottle my whole life. But regulation of the amount dispensed is often less than ideal. And after pouring, I find it necessary to wipe the bottle spout with a paper towel.

I'm expecting that this cruet will improve regulation, and eliminate any need to wipe. To my eyes it's prettier than a bottle, and anyway, I want a new toy.

I've been using this cruet for about a week now, and really like it. As I expected, it makes it easier to control the amount of EVOO dispensed (relative to pouring from the bottle). And no need to wipe oil after use. I just ordered three more for Christmas presents to family.

Do we really need a separate thread?
