I had a full size Blazer Sport in my early 20's, loved that truck. I find myself longing for one of the last year 2 door Tahoe, 1995-1999. I find myself cruising the web in search of an original, unmolested by lifting or other after market nonsense, low miles example. My thought is to buy one if it pops up and enjoy it for a couple of years then turn my oldest son loose on the world in it when he turns 16. I would like to find one under 80k miles for less than $15k. Based on what I have seen this would be a rare bird but not extinct.

Has nostalgia got the best of me or does this seem like a reasonably pursuit.

Ya.... under 80k miles would be pretty strange actually.
We're talking about a 20 year old vehicle. That would be 4K per year.
I have a 1999 Tahoe LT (4 door), about 140K miles, and I still love it. I don't drive it everyday, but I'm not giving it up.

For that price & miles, look for a Government Auction CUCV. Diesel, but they run like a Timex.

Ive been thinking about getting one for a 2nd Truck & something else to snowplow with.

Packed in Cosmoline, it might not be a rust bucket.

My 1999 Tahoe is NOT a rust bucket...
Of course, it's been garaged.
A Texas vehicle will be fine.

I wouldn't consider one from a rust probe area. We don't really see a lot of rust issues in this part of the country.

I'd second this. Those military Blazers are tanks.

This is kind of the benchmark for my quest. I simply couldn't do the red interior though...

I think you would be silly to pass on it solely based on the red interior.

I would feel regret every time I opened the door....its supposed to be a fun car. I can't possibly express how much I dislike that interior....what the hell were the designers thinking?

Love Shack Baby! Love shack, baby love shack!

Red plastics with red velour seats! Had it it in my C1500! At least it matched the red outside paint. The one you listed doesn't.

Stolen from the late 80s early 90s Foxbody Mustangs. Those of us in the foxbody world refer to it as Porno Red.

In all serious the only other interior color worse is white.
In this case with what you want I would be able to overlook it.
As clean and nice as it is.

My buddy in HS had one of these. Tan with tan interior. Good truck though it did strand us in Helfin, AL when the fuel pump went out as we were on our way to Arkansas to duck hunt.

Not low mileage (240k), but here's a 99 Z71 4x4 for $7000. Red interior though. https://atlanta.craigslist.org.../cto/6168070428.html

And then there's this black Z71 with a lift and some other mods but only 120k. This one is bad ass. https://atlanta.craigslist.org.../cto/6169369175.html

I'd get a 16 year old kid something newer with about 200 air bags surrounding him. And keep that nice vintage vehicle for myself. A kid will destroy something like that in a couple years.

Man, you gotta get in line. Just about everyone I know is looking for a Tahoe or even better, a Bronco made in the 80's thru the early 90's.

The decent ones are getting really hard to find and when you do find one they are seldom on the market for longer than a day. I've had my eye out for one for years and I always seem to be just a few hours too late.

I ain't giving up.

I was going to agree with you, then I pulled up the photos. Straight out of the 70's era Bunny Ranch. You can't even consider carpet and upholstery, cause you're still stuck with the dash and console. Man, that's ugly.

I have no idea where south of BHM is, but if the truck is close to the description in my OP I would love to see some pics. Is he the original owner?

That's a nice looking Tahoe... except for the red velvet interior of course....

It's the same year as mine. I understand the appeal of the look of the two door model... but I do like having 4 doors for float trips, and hunting trips, etc. The back seats do fold down and cargo can be accessed both through the rear doors and the side doors. With the back seats down you can fit a 4x8 sheet of plywood flat. My brother's newer Yukon XL is no where near as wide. I also like the barn doors on the back.

I am very familiar with the capabilities of the 4 door Tahoe. I owned a '99, a 2002 Z71 and a 2004 Suburban. This particular itch can only be scratched by the 2 door model.
