Latest weird call:

Me: Hello, this is Mark. How can I help you?

Caller: YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO CUT MY LAWN!!!!

Me: OK, may I have your name?

Caller: THIS IS XXXXXX (I forget her name) FROM CALDWELL BANKER REALTY AND I NEED YOU HERE YESTERDAY!

Me: Ummm, what's your name again?

Caller: YOU NEED TO BE ON THIS LAWN BY THE END OF THE DAY!!!

Me: What lawn? What's the address? I should tell you that I've never dealt with anyone from Caldwell Banker before. I think you've got the wrong guy.

Caller: (sheepishly) Oh, is this the lawn care?

Me: Yes, but I have no idea what your talking about.

Last time I got hollered at by the manager at the Holiday Inn Express for the same reason. Not showing up to cut the lawn except they never called me before. I never contracted with them.

Is it strange? Is it because they forget who they call and my name comes up first on Google? Why do all these strange things happen to me? It's kinda hilarious.

I hope you said, "you probably made arrangements with one of my competitors. I can tell you I am dependable and reliable."

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

Might be that they think you're a large service company (many employees, customer slipped through the cracks) and by acting that way 'might' get them service now at a discounted rate?

I almost always ask them what they are wearing. If female, I'll further ask if she is having her period. That usually gets rid of them... Big Grin

Wow! I usually just ask if she is wearing underwear, and what color is it. I have to bow to the master. Mr. Shugart, you are The Man!

It might get to the point where telemarketers check this website to make sure that they are not calling a SIGforum member. Smile

It could be.
She may think that if she acts like it's been paid for and you didn't show... you'll just ask for the address and come cut it.
BUT it might be a good lead... who knows?

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

If I ask her what kind of flow she has and she answers, "linoleum"; then I suspect membership in the Congressional Black Caucus.

I think you are on to the solution.

Call the one most likely to have pulled this.

Say "OK. You got me". I bet he can't resist cracking up.

Then you'll know who to get even with. Wink
