The area tree trimmers park their bucket trucks (over night) with the buckets pretty much all the way up. and the stabilizer feet out .

And the local rental center have theirs up in the air as well.

Why do they extend them way up for storage?

Yep the hydraulic saws are a pain to connect / disconnect (leaks a little fluid each time) easier to leave them hooked up and in the bucket.

Seem to recall, from back in my Army days that extending the cranes help maintain the hydrolc seals.

I get a kick out of driving by bridge construction sites and seeing a crane holding a jon boat and a welder 75' up in the air.

God bless America.

As mentioned in a previous post, it is to prevent theft of the hydraulic pruner attached to the lift near the bucket. Also, metal rods are inserted through the tool boxes to lock them. The rods can only be inserted and removed if the dump body is elevated about three feet. In order to raise the dump body, the booms must also be raised.
