Oh, and proof I am still living, the new Colt AR15A4 with ambi safety removed.
I once had a Sporter in the 20in config, so now I have it back again.

I haven't tested it yet. I will get around to it if I get decent weather with no wind.

February and March, as you know, are our windiest months.
I don't do cold anymore, there is plenty of time for that later.

Pretty much I am and thank you.
Though I have been that way most of my life, peace in my life is more enhanced these days.

Currently, most of my life is centered around my girls.
I spend most days thinking and acting with and for the daughters, to give them what they missed early in life, namely a loving father who can be counted upon no matter what, looks out for them, teaches them the things only real fathers can impart to their daughters, and most importantly, show them their father loves them deeply, meaning me.

They didn't get that from their biological dad.
He's been dead a couple of years, but in the big picture, he was never in their life in a meaningful way.
They love him however, and they should, no objection from me.
But I am actually their father, talk to them, they will tell you that.

There's still a lot to be done for them, I am working on it.

And my wife?
The best thing that ever happened to me was marrying her and getting the bonus of a family.

It was tough for a great many years, but I have worked hard to cement this family and I think we are about there.

It has that certain early nineties military rifle look.
It may not look quite as good as the 2015 Ford Escape I recently bought one of the daughters though.
But it's a close second.

I enjoy it while I can, that is certain.

Don't everyone freak out about the safety in the photo.
The bcg was already taken out and the carrier sent to Cogan.
I felt the need to clarify.

lbj,

I am sorry I haven't come in here sooner and offered words of encouragement. Please know that I am praying for you and your lovely family. As I was reading your post above it struck me that no matter what happens, the time spent and love shown to your wife and daughters is going to reverberate and influence many lives in a good way for a very long time to come. I am also a father to two kids that are not biologically mine, but are mine in every other way, shape, and form. It hasn't always been easy, but they have brought a lot of meaning to my life and I can see that your daughters have done the same for you. It would seem that we are both wonderfully blessed in that way. I pray that God continues to grant you and your family peace, strength, and comfort as your journey continues.

Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong. Do everything in love.

Lbj,
I've only experienced an almost infinitesimal slice of your life but that slice shows me that your life has showered blessings on others. Your writings have affirmed many of the ways I live and challenged me in meaningful ways in other parts. I am thankful for the gift of you.

Thanks, nice to hear.

I cannot remember when I became happy in life, but it must have been long ago.
However, I do have my moments as we all do.

Arg pirates, I need a new car.
It's odd at this stage of my life to have to do this. I feel a bit guilty but in some ways it would be nice to have one last new car experience. Part of figures it to be wasteful though.

My 2004 BMW X5 Sport has 180K on it and it needs work, over 10K worth.
Based on the what the car is worth, I lose all that repair money in accident.

My wife has been after me for a while and wants me to get 2017 BMW X5, but I'm thinking to go way cheaper.

I am looking at the Ford Escape Titanium Edition AWD with almost every option including the 2.0L 4cyl Ecoboost coming in at 245HP. Color to be Lightning Blue.
It will run about 35K which is half what a new X5 costs.
Plus, if I do expire, older daughter can have it to replace her 2010 Fusion.

Gosh I hate spending money on a car given my situation but my old BMW is going to leave me soon, the tranny is shot.
And if I do live for another 2 years, there is no way my current one will make it that far.

The good news is I can afford an Escape.

What to do, what to do.

I was looking at the HP to weight ratios of my BMW and the Escape with the 2.0L Ecoboost and the the Escape is 97% of what the hp/lbs is for the 2004 BMW.

Is that a fair comparison to figure the acceleration of that Escape being close to what I have now?

I wish we had the means to buy the exact BMW you have been thinking of, fully loaded, with all the options, color, etc. you choose, and have it delivered to your door. I am certain nearly everyone here feels the same.

What a nice thought and thank you, however, the reality is I really want the Escape, not the BMW.
I want something I will not obsess over and get pissed at every little scratch.
I also need something small, what with the Shelby, garage space is at a premium and it's a tight fit with the wife's 750LIX.

A 2017 Ford Escape everyday snow car will fit the bill.
I am sure I will have to order this car.
It'll be my last, it needs have exactly what I want on it, nothing more, nothing less.

I checked the 0-60 times.

My old 2004 BMW X5 Sport 7.2 seconds
2017 2.0L Ecoboost 7.3 seconds

I was happy enough with the X5s power and the Escape is basically the same, at least with the turbo kicked in.

I think this works out if only for the sole reason the oldest daughter's Fusion will need replacement in a couple of years and we'll have one for her, mine.

And if I am further blessed and live 3 years or so, I will buy her something just to celebrate I made that far.

LBJ,

I have never been in this thread, but I read two recent ones that led me here. The one about that Cliff guy, who I am too new to have known and sounds like a good thing, and one with a guy asking about your Shelby. I came out of those with the understanding you were not well - so I did a search and ended up here on post 1. Quite the last 15-16 months you have had, many ups and downs, but you are still here - quite an inspiration.

God has certainly given you the ability to fight this and talk about it. I am happy you have had more time with your family and will be a grandfather soon. And is great you got to see Trump take over and begin moving our country back in the right direction.

My prayers are with you and your family for continued positive news and that you are able to respond to treatment and continue to move the goalposts of life out and crush the doctors estimates.
