I appreciate the words.

I write all this for me and others to read.
I would hope members do not feel compelled to respond.

As I say, this is the book I always wanted to write. I just didn't know what it was going to be about all these years and now I know.

I shouldn't laugh and all but the bumblebee story is one of my all time favorites.
I will always have that picture in my mind of that poor family whose picnic was ruined and them running and screaming with wild abandon as that winged pitbull went after them.

Some of these personal experiences I post had lessons for me, as well as they show the rich full life I have.

I have a bumble bee story myself.
I had one catapulted into the cabin of a Cessna 172 with my flight examiner.
It was my final test for my license.
The fella was a big bear of a man and I was scooting down the runway at a good tick and in come that bee.
I exclaim "we've got a BEE in the cabin!!!"
He just looks at me and asks as I'm wrastling the controls, well son, what'cha gonna do?
"Fly the plane sir"
He reaches over and grabs my flight map and starts swatting at the bee.

We finally land and he pops out of that plane like a champagne cork.
My instructor asks, what'd you do to him! Eek
I told him BEE! BIG BEE!
We just laughed and laughed.

What color was the paper the examiner gave you when it was over?

White = pass

Pink = fail

That was probably the same bumblebee from BC.
After it left the plane, it went back to chasing children having picnics.

I've got one as well, although it wasn't bumblebees.

My family used to own a condo in Glen, NH just outside of North Conway that we would go up to every summer. One the way back one year when I was probably 8 or 9 we saw a bunch of cars stopped on the side of the road with people outside looking into the woods. So we pulled over and found out that they were all watching a moose just inside the tree line.

As I walked towards it for a closer look I felt a sharp pain in my right cheek. Turns out, I had stepped on a ground hornet's nest and really pissed them off. Luckily I was the first to get stung which caused me to rush back into our van and, upon realizing what had happened, my mother took off. We looked back to see the rest of the people that had stopped flailing their arms around and running for their cars.

LBJ, I am sorry to read that the chemo is not working.

My mother had cancer and the tumor was removed and she took a lot of nutritional supplements. At the time we did not know about vitamin D3. She was getting better and getting her strength back. She didn't believe in chemo.

About two months after the operation, two hospices people made a visit to the house. I should have asked them what they wanted before we let them in. They told my mother that she should get her affairs in order that she did not have long to live. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I should have kicked them out on their ass since we didn't invite them. My mother hearing this refused to continue on the nutritional supplements. It took about three months before her health started to decline and she passed away.

On top of that, the hospices people collect $3000 from Medicare for their services.

With what I know, I would contact Dr. Stephen Sinatra. He use to work at the Manchester Memorial Hospital in Connecticut. He does not believe in chemo but uses supplements and diet to strength the immune system. Cancer needs sugar to grow. Here is his website:

I have been told sugar is needed for tumors to grow too.

I have a CT scan on Thursday, and meet with the doctor Friday to see if the Opdivo is helping as well as another infusion afterward.

Thanks.

I am busy this morning packing up the gear for oldest daughter/father range day. It is always fun.
I have never tried my Beta C mag, so today is the day.
It's been loaded sitting around now for over over 23 years.
I think I bought it in 1993.

I'm baaaack, I'm the TV people.

I had my CT scan in the past hour.
Early tomorrow morning, I will know the results.

I was thinking about a few things during the procedure.
One of them was that being focused on my family and not myself with regards to me being sick seems very helpful for me.

Stewing about myself and my illness only would be a bad thing and not helpful.

Hey beej, having three topics on the first page of The Lounge seems a bit much doesn't it? Roll Eyes

The Thimbleberry jam arrived today.
Thanks a lot, I just opened it and had a taste and it truly does exceed expectation!

Thank you.

I talked with someone today who has a different type cancer than I have. He is on the same drug Opdivo as I am.
He told me his doctor told him that after 3 months on Opdivo, there was no effect on him at this point in time.
However, the doctor added that it is not unusual to see no effects at 3 months and it can take 4 or more months to start to show improvement if it is working or will work on oneself.
I don't know what to make of that.
Yes, I am apprehensive about tomorrow.
The ups and downs of this in the micro picture are bit of burden, though not unexpected.

I am thinking of the time shortly before Mrs LBJ's mother died some years ago.
She was in her eighties, had cancer and I think was days away from dying.
Her mother at the time said "Dying is for the birds."

I took that at face value thinking she meant something simple like dying sucks.
Now I understand what she really meant and her comment was quite deeper than I initially thought.
My new line of thinking about what she meant is that the long process of knowing you are dying in advance is burdensome and takes a lot out of you, that you can simply begin to grow weary of dying.

I am beginning to understand that part.
I still want to live of course for sometime yet, but still.

Thanks all.

Last Tuesday was range day with my oldest daughter.
She shot the 1994 made in Czech Republic CZ85 Combat I have.

She has shot a Sig P228, P225, S&W 3913TSW, full size 1911, Officer model 1911, and the CZ85 Combat.
While she likes them all, the S&W 3913TSW and CZ85 Combat are her current favorites at this point.
She likes the all steel CZ85's weight and learned that a heavier pistol like that can be very enjoyable to shoot, as it takes some of the recoil out of shooting it.

With everything she has learned regarding firearms and firearm safety, I told her I was going to the car for something and that she was free to select, load and fire whatever we had on the table.
I did keep watch as I went to the car, and she could not see me because I was way behind her.
She selected the CZ85, loaded it and shot a magazine unattended and her firearm safety went perfectly.

I told my youngest daughter back in July at hers and mine last range visit the same thing, that she had learned enough to be able to shoot on her own.

It is kind of cool that they can fly on their own regarding shooting safely and makes me proud.
The other part that makes me proud is that given my range time and my "lectures" about the 2nd Amendment and why it so necessary for the citizenry to have such, both daughters are now hardcore 2nd Amendment types.

I have done my part in getting them to this point and they have done theirs, such great things.

Yes grasshoppers, you have learned well.
