Thanks all for the thoughts.

My first appointment is tomorrow with the urologist and we will begin to see where this goes.

My wife will attend all my appointments in case I miss something that gets discussed.

I really need this hernia thing addressed pronto as any pain from this needs to be resolved so I can stop thinking the pain is from my other issues.

We appreciate the prayers and well wishes.

Best of luck to at your appointment! Take a pen and pad with questions and make notes. Good news or bad thoughts have a way of flying the coop once you are face to face with the doc.

Be strong and be positive. It may be nothing at all. As a cancer survivor, I understand exactly how you feel. You are not alone.

I wish you te best of luck on the diagnosis - hope it will be nothing

I ended up with a CT scan back in Feb or March due to really severe abdominal cramps and while that didn't show anything of any importance, the doc did point out that I have more than a dozen nodules on both left and right lungs

I told him I wasn't worried about it but that perhaps in a year or so, do it again and see if they're bigger or have multiplied

have no idea what they might be and frankly at this point I don't have enough spare time to really care about it

From an episode of House:

Dr. Cameron: Idiopathic T-cell deficiency?

Dr. House: Idiopathic, from the Latin meaning we're idiots 'cause we can't figure out what's causing it. Give him a whole body scan.

Dr. Cameron: You hate whole body scans.

Dr. House: 'Cause they're useless. Could probably scan every one of us and find five different doodads that look like cancer.

Mercury and Dr. House are right, these cysts that your CT scan found could be nothing important. In medicine, they're actually called incidentalomas. Hey, we were looking for this one thing, and incidentally found something unexpected. Now we've got to figure out what the second .. thingy? .. is.

In any case, I hope it turns out to be nothing. Take care.

I hate offended people. They come in two flavours - huffy and whiny - and it's hard to know which is worst. The huffy ones are self-important, narcissistic authoritarians in love with the sound of their own booming disapproval, while the whiny, sparrowlike ones are so annoying and sickly and ill-equipped for life on Earth you just want to smack them round the head until they stop crying and grow up.

Nope, got bad news this morning.

I have renal kidney cancer, the mass is the size of an orange and I have probably had this going on for the last 10 years.

I have another couple CT scans coming ASAP, one of my brain and the other for the upper part of my thorax that the original CT did not cover.

Assuming I can pass those scans plus a bone scan, I will be having the kidney removed forthwith.

So Bad News Bears unfortunately.

lbj, curious how they determined it's cancer and not some other type growth.
Was it determined by the nature of growth/experience of the Uro or some other test?

LBJ, it sounds like you're in good hands medically so I offer no medical advice.
Only that I have seen and experienced healing by prayer.
So my prayers are sent.

lbj,

Oh man, I just read this thread - I can't offer any constructive advice other than I have known and seen people beat this before and trying to stay positive really does seem to help. I will be praying for you and sending all positive thoughts your way. You can beat this!

This is why I am not so fond of going to the Doctor and Dentist. They are always finding something wrong and needs fixing.

I want this to all go well for you lbj. Take care of it now and get healed up. We'll be looking forward to how it goes. Be strong now.
