I lived in Silicon Valley for close to 40 years, know quite well the liberal mantra. My concern with the liberal trend is that anti-social behavior will increase, economic health will decline, and the liberals will never admit the cause of the problems.

I’ve been giving a lot of thought to the state of radical leftism in the country recently, and it prompted me to reread The Soviet Tragedy by Martin Malia. We should not, I therefore believe, get hung up on which tyrannical organization or regime the modern groups resemble most in any details we might focus on.

Although ANTIFA may be becoming an embarrassment to the Democrat party at present as other violent factions have sometimes embarrassed their parents, in general the party itself is attempting to achieve the same ends as the other totalitarian regimes of the past century. There are of course many individual Democrat voters and politicians who would disagree, but there were many members of the Nazi and various Communist parties who disagreed with many of the details of their organizations’ goals and actions as well—but to no avail either. And sooner or later, the ones who fail to fall in line (and even many who do) will suffer from the same inevitable purges conducted by other totalitarian regimes.

(I am not, BTW, challenging or disagreeing with icom706 because I don’t know enough to have an opinion about that particular analysis. I am much less familiar with the history of Red China than I am of Nazi Germany or the Soviet Union. Part of that is due to less personal interest, but also because much more has been written and revealed about the latter two—and I believe, because of the personal agendas of the historians who write about such things. These are just my own thoughts and observations about the current state of affairs.)

The Seattle Police chief announced a new policy. Police will actually arrest people? Perhaps Starbucks threatened to shut off the coffee? I did see mention that the city prosecutor claimed they hadn’t heard about it.

I googled it, seems Brown's parents got a $1.5M tax free wrongful death settlement from the City of Ferguson about 4 years ago. If they are out of money, they spent close to $400K per year?

I think it is a common pattern for people who get a windfall of $$ to be quite irresponsible.

And a little disconcerting, seems the evidence shows the death was not wrongful.
