First real day as a Sergeant tomorrow Login/Join

I was promoted after a very unusual round of testing about a month ago. The testing process was quite different in the way that I was 1 of 2 that passed out of 12 applicants but some outside shenanigans prevented me from being promoted. The department recognized the shenanigans for what they were but had tied hands. They immediately intiated a 2nd round of promotions and once again, I was 1 of 2 out of 11 this time.

So I’ve been a Sgt on paper since 11/25 but tomorrow is my first actual day doing the job... or actually training to do the job. I’m expecting a rude eye opening transitioning from doing the work to supervising others doing the work.... we have a lot of “special” people and an ungodly large percentage of rookies.

Here we go!

Congratulations.

When you start to ask yourself if it’s worth it, ask instead, “If not me, who?”

And sometimes it is as simple as that.

Good luck, young SGT.

Congrats Thumper and congrats to JLJones. I suspect the detective work may be very interesting in that you will be putting puzzles together by both hard work and intuition.

Good luck, Sarge. Now you find yourself between the brass and your troops. The true mark of a great Sergeant is keeping both groups happy!
