Four young people shot and killed but somehow it is not being called a mass shooting, and not getting national press...

https://www.wthr.com/article/p...ning-silence-streets

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - The mother of one of the four victims killed at Carriage House Apartments told Eyewitness News she's spent the entire day planning her son's funeral. She hopes someone will be brave enough to break the streets' code of silence.

That’s also something several east Indianapolis-area pastors are praying for, too.

After the murders of the four young people ages 19 to 21, IMPD homicide detectives are up against a code of silence in the streets. But they are still determined to find their killer.

Pastor James Jackson heads up Fervent Prayer Church on Indy’s east side. His outreach over the years has helped families during rough economic times. One of the contributors he believes is behind some of the crime in the city.

But the quadruple homicide has left the entire city and community leaders like Jackson somewhat at a loss for words and stunned, especially since no one has come forward to tell what they know about the person responsible for the murders.

Jackson said, “It's worth breaking a code."

Jackson is referring to the street code of silence where people who know about violent crimes remain silent. They may even know exactly who, why and what the motivation is for something as serious as a homicide.

The quadruple homicide is being talked about across the city, like in Sierra Monique's Barber Boutique, where Eyewitness News caught up with Jackson Friday afternoon. By this time, there has been no mention of any suspect information from IMPD.

“The streets know who did it,” said Jackson. “There are people at this moment who know what happened. If you're trying to protect the shooter, it's not thing to do."

Around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday in Carriage House near 42nd and Post Road, someone shot and killed 20-year-old Marcel Wills, 19-year-old Jalen Roberts, and Braxton Ford and Kimari Hunt, both 21.

Pastor Kenneth Sullivan Jr. of New Direction Church, located on East 38th Street a few miles away, learned about the murders on social media. The post left him stunned for a moment and wondering who would murder four young people. More importantly, he wondered why no one is speaking up about the murders.

“That's what needs to be broken, the code of silence,” said Sullivan. “We are just coming on the heels of who says it's not the words of our enemies we will remember, it's the silence of our friends. If you are a friend of any of these victims you need to do the right thing and share what you know."

Metro Police Chief Randy Taylor has ordered all necessary resources to finding the killer. Taylor urges the person or people responsible for the murders to surrender. IMPD works closely with other local, state and federal partners on certain cases that need extra resources to investigate.

IMPD is also part of The Safe Streets Task Force which also uses extra resources for complicated and challenging cases. That includes locating persons of interest and/or suspects in high-profile investigations.

“Do the right thing, come forward, turn yourself in," Sullivan said.

IIRC the FBI lists four dead as a mass shooting for their national shooting stats.

This kind of crime doesn't serve a useful interest to the national media. The only people that actually care about seeing justice in this type of incident are the victims' families and the cops that are working it.

Just double checked Google.

4 dead is mass murder. 4 shot is generally considered a mass shooting bit there is no one definition like there is for mass murder.

It's not national news but it will certainly be counted when the Karen's start demanding gun restrictions.

Last week three black teenagers were murdered in Des Moines, I doubt it made national news.

Two men were charged with murder after three teenagers were shot dead in a Des Moines home Thursday night.

Emmanuel Totaye Jr., 19, and Daishawn Gills, 20, both of Des Moines, were both charged with three counts of first-degree murder and one count of first-degree robbery.

Brothers DeVonte Swanks, 19, and Malachi Swanks, 16, and their friend Thayne Wright, 15, were killed in the shooting.

Christina Duncan, the mother of the Swanks brothers, said their father, Vinson Swanks, found the three teens dead Thursday inside a home in the 600 block of East Hackley Avenue...

When black people shoot or are shot, it's never national news. Doesn't really matter how many, unless, of course, the shooter is white. East Indy, Marcel, Braxton-checking all the stereotypes.

I believe it is 2 or more shot for a mass shooting under the anti-gun statistics.

This is what I have always understood to be the case- makes the gun control agenda more palatable for the general public when mass shootings are occurring all over America and racking up a body count.

The FBI defines a “mass killing” as three or more killings in a single incident.

The other day we had a "mass shooting" in Seattle. The media of course went bonkers, the grabbers crying about "doing something", Governor Douche Sock babbling nonsense.

It was a couple bangers being fuckheads, after dozens of arrests of course. But this isn't a gang crime issue, this isn't a failure on the part of Seattle and the justice system, allowing these failures to keep failing, ultimately resulting in the death of an innocent bystander. No, it's clearly a gun control issue. Oh, also we have several gun control bills alive in the legislature. But that's got nothing to do with the reaction to this shooting. Nothing at all.

The Left loves criminals on the street where they can rape, rob, and murder. Crime is not to be discouraged. Crime serves the greater purpose of justifying the disarming the Left's political opposition. Then the real killing can begin wholesale.

Mass murder and genocide. It's what the Left does. They can't help themselves.

Many are claiming we lock up too many since the 90's up but the crime rates have dropped ever since.
That is while the rate of legal gun ownership skyrockets and many more have carry permits in many more states.
The really high crime rates are in a small number of zip codes and often in states and cities with the tightest gun restrictions.

Doesn't fit the narrative.

In reality, it was a gang shooting - street crime. In my book, that doesn't qualify as a 'mass shooting'.

They ignore all of these shootings nationwide as others here have alluded.

Unless there is a racial component - meaning whites are involved, media silence.

Mass shooting implies a random act in public. This seems to be a targeted attack in a private residence.

Of course, in some ways this is symantics. Dead is dead. But this type of crime doesn't imply a threat to someone who's just walking in a mall, or similar.
