I know we have all been guilty of violating at least one of the commandments when arguing online, but it's good to review and to try to obey them Smile

“Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passions, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence.”

I could almost wish that that poster would appear on the screen for 30 seconds after logging in here. But that would make no difference. The people who open and read this thread are the least likely to need it, and the rest wouldn’t read it regardless of how it was posted.

Although I have tried to follow these fundamental practices I'm certain that I've failed to more than once, so this is a great reminder!

Although I can recall some of these points when writing up a response I actually find it helpful to have them laid out like this...so thanks for the post and reminder!

Unless I'm mistaken, I believe number 5 covers this one...but I do agree with you on the importance of this point.

2 and 3 are the most widely abused on the internet IMO.

I discount #1 mainly because it immediately discredits the name caller.

I'm going to repost that image every time I see somebody violating one of its principles. Thanks, BamaJeepster!
