And the mainstream liberal media condones and even celebrates the above, as if this is business as usual Mad. This shooting has upped the ante 10 fold.

If this continues on as business as usual, we are going to see retaliation from conservative citizens. No doubt.

A witness called into WTOP this morning and said the shooter asked them if it was D's or R's practicing.

Brooks is right. Nothing comes without risk. I played Little League on that field, participated in EMS responses at the adjacent YMCA, drove along Monroe Ave. to and from work for years, and shopped at the grocery store and drug store on the opposite side of Monroe Ave.

This was a well considered, but poorly executed ambush.

From my personal knowledge of the layout of the field, we should be damned glad (a) the terrorist was a poor shot, and (b) armed security were present to disrupt the terrorist's plan.

There are two ways off that field that do not involve climbing a 6' fence, and one was very close to the spot where the shooter fired from, the gate by the third base dugout. Its not that big a field, IIRC home to center field was about 335'.

I can also attest to the fact that bullets flying willy-nilly in that area is a bad thing. There is a MST of public places nearby (e.g., coffee shop, grocery store), and both Monroe Ave. and nearby Route 1 are high traffic flow commuter routes.

It's well evidenced the terrorist is a supporter of socialism, so is this the natural one-time byproduct of the hate-filled rhetoric towards Republicans? Or is it an escalation of the violence by one terrorist seeking to encourage his fellow travelers?

I will be AMAZED if a politician, from either side, publically draws a line from the left/media's rampant tacit support of violence against Trump and those who support him. Early indications appear this may be the case. Sure the guy may have truly been a crackpot but this is what happens when you constantly bombard crackpots with the idea that this is acceptable.

These left wing groups on twatter and such that espouse this type of behavior need to be rooted out by the justice department and treated for what they really are: domestic terror organizations intent on destroying the country. Until there are consequences, this will continue and will only get worse. And don't give me "First Amendment!". You can't yell fire in a theater, you shouldn't be able to say you want to burn the white House down either to a croud of whack jobs.

It was announced that the game will not be cancelled and will be played tomorrow night as planned. Good for them. I imagine security will be high.

Forget the anti-gun noise. It's flak.

This shooting moves things into incredibly dangerous territory. BLM and Antifa were bad enough, but political assassination changes the whole picture. I don't think we'll see retaliation in kind from the right. But another such assassination attempt, especially of a prominent conservative, and all bets are off.

The guy was obviously a terrible shot or just never practiced with his rifle. He probably never even sighted it in. Guy had the element of surprise and only managed to hit the congressman in the hip.

And, Uh, about the female officer who was shot in the foot. Am I the only one who suspects that she shot herself in the foot by accident? Just an assumption...

And for the antigun jerks, just think about the fact that this loser with a rifle and a handgun managed to kill no one. Remind me again how many people were killed recently by terrorists with only knives and trucks? Thought so. Carry on.

Gun control.....yup. Schumer and Pelosi should be along shortly to beat this useless horse.
Roll Eyes Thank goodness some good guys were at the ball field today and this socialist nut-job is dead!

The truth is that this incident exemplifies how divided and on edge the country is right now. We're not at a civil war level, but we're inching closer every day. No better time to be carrying and staying vigilant. I fear that this trend in violence will get significantly worse before it gets better.

"Never let a good crisis go to waste".

Got to admit, those democrats are consistent in their hypocrisy.
After the Virginia Governor made his anti-gun statement and then said today isn't a day to make political statements, the reporter asked him why he was bringing it up.
I guess he was talking about the shooter being a hard core lefty.

Why in the hell would you think the female officer shot herself?! She is being credited with taking out the loser.

Whoa, relax. I'm not disparaging her. Just imagining how it might have happened. I just assumed she did it on her draw. I just hope she wasn't hit in the foot with a rifle round. Apologies for bringing it up. Yikes.

Some people think women can't use firearms effectively?

They do, however, forget women like:

Liudmyla "Lady Death" Pavlychenko, Hero of the Soviet Union. 309 kills as a sniper in the Great Patriotic War.

It appears she was shot by the gunman.

From a Washington Post article:

"Fillus said a police agent pulled out a gun and tried to shoot back. She was screaming, “ ‘Drop your weapon!’ And he shot her and she fell on the ground."

“She fell on the ground in front of us, and we were all just trying to lay as flat we could. And I belly crawled, dragging through the mud. I got to the car and I ducked under the car and I laid as close as I could under the car to hide from the person. Then the police seemed to come.”

Well, you have Scalise’s security detail to thank for avoiding a bloodbath. And I'm glad the asshole was a "terrible shot".

Two things kept this from being a mass shooting. This loser could not shoot straight. And Scalise had a security detail with him to shoot back.

This could have been much, much worse.

Roll Eyes

Her sex had nothing to do with my comment.

Being shot in the foot during a firefight just seemed odd.

Anyway, my assumption was likely wrong according to Sigmanic's post.
