Rep. Mo Brooks was just interviewed. Seems two Capitol Police officers were there as security, and engaged the shooter (service pistols against rifle) - both were wounded. At least 5 wounded. Status of bad guy uncertain, maybe dead, maybe in custody. Bad guy was "taken down" says Brooks. Also sounds like it was up close, not a long range event Rep. Brooks applied first aid to both Scalise and one of the officers. Signs of the times - Brooks being interviewed 45 min after the event. The shooter at the GOP congressional baseball practice this morning is James T. Hodgkinson of Belleville, Ill., according to law enforcement officials. Hodgkinson, 66, owns a home inspection business, but his home inspection license expired in November 2016 and was not renewed, state records show. Hodgkinson was charged in April 2006 with battery and aiding damage to a motor vehicle, according to online records in St. Clair County, Ill. The charges were dismissed, records show.
