I've been reading your posts, you're a well spoken, intelligent dude, and a patriot.
But brother, she got you right here^^^.
Socialists are as kind and concerned about other peoples well being as a starving lion.
When the time is right, she would be glad to force you to your knees and put a .32 into the back of your skull, make NO mistake about it...
(For the "well being" of the state, for Amerika, of course...)

You do realize that was written by the story author, and not JALLEN...

There is no debating "them". I agree.
But in every debate there are also unbiased observers and young people looking to form their opinions. That is why it is important to keep debating, and keep taking the high road in the debates. Just keep bludgeoning the commies with facts, history, logic, ...but always keeping a serious and not "angered" tone.

IMO the biggest myth that socialists promote is that "Socialism is not Communism". Actually, Socialism is communism; it is the transition state from freedom to communism, exactly as envisioned and written about by the communist theorist. It is even described as such in Webster;s definition of the word:

socialism noun
so·cial·ism | \ ˈsō-shə-ˌli-zəm \
Definition of Socialism
1 : any of various economic and political theories advocating collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods
2a : a system of society or group living in which there is no private property
b : a system or condition of society in which the means of production are owned and controlled by the state
3 : a stage of society in Marxist theory transitional between capitalism and communism and distinguished by unequal distribution of goods and pay according to work done

So socialism isn't communism only in the same sense that HIV "isn't AIDS".

Yes.
The naive can sometimes be educated, but more often must learn from experience.
Hard core leftists want to control you and me and must be defeated. You don't reason with communists. It's an evil ideology.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

This.

It's always fun to debate a lefty, desperately clinging 'to their facts' when there's youngsters around who are genuine in hearing from 'the other side'. There's times when mob-mentality takes over, very easy with high schoolers, thus you need to keep your head on your shoulders, use facts, calm tone and don't respond to the idiots on the periphery with their side-commentary. Identify 1-2 serious, willing participants and pull them-in to the debate. The morons will shrink away and go smoke a bowl.

Honest question. To you who suggest debating with socialists for the benefit of others, are you really being honest about your true motivations? I don't debate, argue, or discuss issues of importance with leftist's very often, but on the rare occasion when I do, I find my motivations turning to trying to trigger them into a mental and verbal meltdown. Do I really buy anything with that outcome? Who knows, but I find a great deal of evil pleasure in the accomplishment. Wink

I have a friend, a co-worker really. We've known each other almost 14 years. He is older than I and a product of the 60's. Anti-war, Woodstock, was at the March on Washington, and spent most of his career in education. He's not Caucasian but a pacific islander.

We see pretty much eye to eye work wise but definitely deviate in political ideology. He is definitely far left, which is odd given that he made a LOT of money in his previous employment at the top of at pyramid and lives VERY well. I am of course a right leaning moderate.

I avoid politics, he like to bring it up, I typically wait to an opportune moment and change the subject as A) he as 30 years more experience arguing this than I do, B) I don't care to argue about it, C) I'll never convince him otherwise anyway. We more or less coexist on that plane

But on a recent trip he got off on politics again and made a comment that I found very telling and disturbing. He said "Well, all we have to do is wait for all of the old white men to die, then we'll be able to take over and do what we want".

Quite disturbing actually.... as I'm starting to venture into the front end of that age range myself.

The woman this author debated thinks she can control the monster. She cannot. Democratic socialism, or any of its permutations, are like a grass fire in August. You can start the fire small and in one corner of the field but will quickly lose control and the fire will rage until all fuel is consumed. This is what socialism does. The fool thinks he can stand at the edge of the field with a gallon of water and control the Bern.

Oh, don't confuse motivations with tactics.
I WANT to completely humiliate them and send them away running, crying and screaming, with my boot stuck firmly in their sphincter. Smile
But I also try really hard to keep the big picture in mind. Eventually people are going to spread their opinions and vote. I want to influence those who may be influenceable in our direction. If I can accomplish both, that's a good goal too. But top priority is to convince the unbiased.

That’s a great analogy. I like it. Grass fire in August is a perfect description of socialism. Stolen.

Never forget, bill ayers and the SDS made a deal with communists from China and others to assist in the take-over of the United States.

They formed a plan to send everyone to re education camps and realized something like 75% of Americans would be unable to wrap their minds around new masters, therefore they would need to be liquidated.

75% of the population!

Yeah, commies are satan on Earth!
